Sedan_Clan has caved! Welcome home ///M3!

The past few months have been such an emotional ordeal for me. I contemplated for weeks about whether or not to purchase an E9X ///M3. Many factors played a part in my decision making process, but I ultimately drove home with an Interlagos Blue E90 sedan last night from Shelly BMW.

I have worked with Shelly BMW (..and the same client advisor) ever since I purchased my first 3-series BMW in 2001 (..a 2002 330ci coupe), and have purchased a total of five cars from them. They've always gone above and beyond to make me a happy customer, and this transaction was no different. I purchased my sedan for $500 over invoice (..stellar!), and decided to trade in my previous BMW. My payment is $799 a month with the 0.9% financing.

My options include:
  • Technology Package
  • Carbon leather trim
  • Silver leather
  • Sat Radio
  • 6MT
  • Moonroof delete (..yayy! )

Here are a few pictures I snapped this morning w/ my camera phone. Better quality pictures coming soon.

Why I chose the sedan:

For the past 2 weeks I was undecided between an IB coupe and this IB sedan. At the time, I didn't really like one more than the other, so I was conflicted. Both are great cars, and both speak to me in different ways depending on the color. I spent an hour at Savage BMW (..after hours) comparing an IB coupe and a Jerez sedan. What I found is that the sedan appeared more aggressive to me due to the rake of the car; I also prefer the fenders on the sedan. Another thing that I found interesting is that I like Interlagos Blue on the sedan more than the coupe; the coupe looks better in Space Grey/Alpine White though. These minor differences are what led me to choose the sedan, and I'm quite satisfied. I prefer the 18's on both body styles.

Grrrrr!!:

...Alas, I already have an EDC issue. I somewhat expected to deal with this before ever purchasing the car due to the issues that members are having. EDC seems to be an electrical demon!!! Issues with this system were my main reason for wanting to pass on the option (..and keep things simple), but the deal on this car was too good to pass up. I'm receiving a malfunction warning on the center console, and the "brake" and "DSC" lights are illuminated on the dash. My CA is picking the car up from me this week to have it checked out. While I have the 330 back, I'll be removing the mods that I placed for sale on E90Post.

By the way, how does the real-time traffic info work?

P.S.....mkoesel, you're next bro. I expect to hear good things when you return from the dealership.

Congratulations. Sorry to hear about the EDC problem. I suppose this is just one of those first year gremlins popping up. Hope it's fixed soon.

Just make sure its on and when you're navigating somewhere, on the bottom left, this yield looking sign will have a red border if there's any traffic pertaining to you. Just click on it and all the roads will be there but the ones that involve you will have a yellow diamond beside them. Once you click on that road it will tell you what the delay is and how long of a delay it is and it will actually show up on your map as you are driving once you reach that location. It is very accurate. Once it told me there was a major accident and low and be hold it was exactly where it said it would be. Sometime it will say ATTENTION traffic something something and it will give you an option for a detour.
Hope this helped.

Thanks for the insight! I'm awaiting my new nav disc so that I can start playing with the system. Real-time will make my travels a lot less cluttered!

Thanks for the props guys. It still hasn't hit me yet. It'll probably take me awhile to reach 1200 miles too.

Congrats man. Hopefully I'll see you at the next OC meet!

Also, I totally agree with you re: the rakish looks of the sedan... even my roomate (who has been urging me to buy the coupe) admitted last night the sedan looks darn good.

A few points

1. You dont need to be navigating to use RTTI. Make sure you can see "TI" shown on the bottom of the screen. This will indicate you are receving the traffic information signal.

2. If you are you can go into navigation, and in the sub menu there is a item to select Traffic Info. You can also press the voice command button and say "Traffic Info". The system will list traffic information hazzards in your area.

3. If a navigation destination has being selected, and there is a traffic hazzard in your way, the system will inform you of it, and suggest if possible a detour. You can set it up to automatically re-route you, if a hazzard is encountered ... its up to you. Thats done in route preferences.

Other than that, the map will show you any hazzards by various icons and colours on the map display.

Enjoy.

S_C, congrats on the great deal and the new wheels. She looks great! Coupe or Sedan, IB looks amazing, but I'm glad you were able to finally decide on the right car for you.

Can't wait to see some more pics.

Thanks for the additional info. Where is the Voice Command button located? It's not in the same location as it was on my 330i.

Maybe I should ....LOL!

You guys are going to flip out when you see what I have coming. No keys in hand or car in driveway yet, so I don't want to jinx it. But suffice to say I found myself one rare car. I am willing to bet no other has been built, and probably no other will be in the future. I can tell you right now though - it is ZTP-free and EDC-free, just as I wanted. And it does have M-DCT. FTW!!

More on this tommorow. I tried to get it closed tonight but when I mentioned the balloon payment on a 0.9% loan, they looked at me like I was a pink elephant eating a unicorn. So they have some baby steps to take and things to figure out before its all set. This car WILL be mine though, oh yes it will!
