BMW Performance seats

Anyone thinking of getting these? I know that I will for sure be getting these when I get my E92. Such a plus that these just bolt in and have the side airbags. Should be a great compromise of everyday use and extra support for track use.

The trial and error of finding the right brackets for my Recaros to fit the way i wanted in my E46 was a pain. Love the fact that these Recaros are a BMW OEM part. I only wish they were a factor option as I will have to sell the stock seats. FYI Turnermotorsport is an excellent shop... They have always provided excellent sercvice and parts.

if i put race seats in my car i would get all leather, alcantara is a pain in the ass to keep up

If you're putting race seats in a car for more lateral stability for the occupants, definitely get the alcantara, otherwise don't bother installing the seats. Leather's too slippery. Who cars what they look like if you're turning it into a track car. Function over form for a track car.

I've found that if I adjust the side bolsters well, the stock seats hold me in place reasonably well on the track.

They do look nice...but for $5k to save 6kg is not worth it......shoot the best CF race seat out there is about $2500 and weighs next to nothing..... I agree the stock seats could be a bit more aggresive for track work...but those bolsters get in the way the other 99.9% of the time

I like them too, but for 5K EACH, it is a little steep! Shit, the European GT3 "racing shells" were only $1300 each or so! lol. 5K each is fricken Ferrari territory! LOL

Granted, they were leather, no airbags, etc., but still, for a factory seat, they were a steal for the performance and weight savings!

The obvious catch with the BMW seats is that they've got side airbags. If one doesn't care about that and messing with mounting brackets/adapters, one should be able to get nicer seats for less...

I suspect they save a lot more than 6kg, that is only about 15 lb. The airbags def. add some weight but the lack of heavy motors and motor mechanisms will provide some good savings. These thigns just look light. Lucid: it will be interesting to eventually add these to the $/lb "database".

+1, I suspect the same. And I am told they lie lower as well. I suppose we'll see when I get them.

As far as I can tell, it's not possible to tell what the basis for comparison is. It could be a manual 1-series seat. As Swamp mentioned above, the M3 seats have several motors in them.

I will add them to the weight savings database as soon BMW-M-Mexico gets his, and weighs them vs. stock.

Agreed that these look good, but I don't know that they will provide firmer positioning on the track unless they happen to "fit" you just right. The bolsters don't look adjustable to me, and that makes a huge difference.

+1. If you match the dummy they used during design you are set, otherwise they might not do much for support.
