Why? Your dealer charges the $4,000 green levy ?

I remember reading a post back in the spring when I was waiting for mine. Long story short was that the coupe did not have the tax but the cab did because it was heavier and as a result has a worse fuel economy rating.

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127686

In the spring it was obvious that different dealers had different information and that those who paid the tax were ultimately reimbursed. Couldn't hurt to call around to a few more places to get more opinions. I paid $1,000 and $1,200 taxes for the cab for a total of $2,200. I would say it was worth it if the gov't used the $$$ to plant trees but who knows where it eventually ends up.

as I remember GREEN LEVY only applies to car with combined fuel consumption over 13L/100km. If you are buying a M3 convertible, then it should be $1250.00. M3 sedan/coupe both are 12.8L/100km just 0.2 short to that point to be charged. If your dealership wants to charge you that $4000, well, go find another one I guess.

This was discussed recently in a thread here in the Canadian corner. See:

http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=127686

I believe the upshot is that there are 2 different levies in Ontario for poor fuel economy, one is federal and one provincial. The M3 just squeaks in under the wire and is not subject to the federal one but is to the Ontario one. It seems that that fee is about $1,000 to $1,200.

I got an M3 Coupe this summer and did not have to pay any federal green tax. You should NOT be paying this as I verified with BMW Canada that the M3 is not subject to this tax. You will however have to pay a $1200 Ontario gas tax fee.
