64 oz liquid detergent spilled in my trunk!

Does anyone know what to do about a liquid laundry detergent spill in the trunk? I took the gray trunk lid out and wiped up everything but there is still a ton of soap in it. Should I just order a new trunk lid/liner, or try to get the soap out. It was the 3x concentrated soap for front loaded washers. Everytime I wipe with a rag it just suds up. Help!!!

The same thing happened to me about 2 weeks after I got my M3 except it wasn't 3x liquid detergent, it was Chemical Guys Speedwipe (much easier to clean). I took a few wet towels and blotted the entire liner board to get most of the speedwipe solution off, then sprayed Febreze all over it and left in the hot sun for like 48-72 hours (brought it back in every night). In your case it may take quite a bit of blotting due to the concentration of the detergent, you may just want to take a hose with a pressure sprayer to it and then leave it in the sun for a few days. I'm not sure what material BMW used for the inner part of the liner board, hopefully it will not warp when exposed to water. Be sure to post the final resolution. Good luck.

The day I picked mine up I ordered the E92 plastic trunk liner - a plastic floor cover with a side wall all the way around. It's probably why I haven't spilled anything in mine.

Cheap and it works. Part number 51 47 0 397 600

Of course it could also be the cargo net I bought right after the floor liner - Part number 51 47 0 010 557

You might try one of those carpet steamers without any soap. Use the uphlostery attachement and just spray on clean water. Vacuum up until clear. Just a thought.

Bummer. I had that happen in my old e36. A friend of mine had a son who was working at a carpet cleaning shop. I took it to him and he was able to clean it overnight. No wrinkles, smells or discolorations. It might be worth a shot.

Look at the bright side, you have a brand new and laundered car. Just wipe it off and let it dry. I think it is not corrosive so you are safe. Sorry I cannot help it: add some dryer sheet for less static. :-)

Just detergent, try a twenty pound tray of chili beans spilling over. Happened to me in my M. Yours will smell nice for weeks atleast, mine, well you get the picture.

Some dealers have carpet steam cleaners in the detail shop. I'd just pay them to steam clean it. I spilled Chili all over my Expedition once a week after delivery, and took it to the Ford dealer and they cleaned it for no charge.

Pour in a gallon or two of water, add your clothes, and then take a few circuits around the track to agitate. All of your clothes will come out with an M3 logo emblazoned upon them.

Do not worry there is no soap in the trunk just wait for the time to swap out the soap from the trunk. Have patient thhis can reduce the cost to buy trunk lid/liner.

this would likely work the best. although you might have to empty it out often as it would bubble quite a bit.
