Yep, E46 had a plastic plug there. Mine is open like the others.

i am referring to the small circle opening above and larger ovalish opening below the black jack point. they are both open and expose the plugs. the e46 and S4 Ihad were totally covered.

thanks greg- is the large opening the oil drain plug? whats the small opening plug for?
Greg do you have an exploded parts view on the air filter intake and its related parts, snorkel, silencer etc? |

Under engine panel openings

2 oil drains
Yes, you obviously need to do both, since there are two low points. I'm not sure how the S54 got away with just one.

Yes, and there are also drain flaps directly under the hood vent.
