Anyone got any ideas on the RS5?

I personally like the S5 a lot, but I think it needs a little more power. Anyone got ideas on the RS5? When do you think it's going to come out? About how much will it cost? Will it be a M3 beater?

Ask HKZ786, he may know more than most but I have heard that it will have at least 450hp and will also get a 7speed DSG as standard. It will be everything the RS4 was but with less weight over the nose, an improved version of DRC like found in the RS6 and better steering feel which in the RS4 is already better than the current M3.

Only downside will be the price.

Hmm....footie is right with his facts.

In addition, after the unveiling of the supercharged 3.0 V6 in the upcoming S4, many are predicting that the next RS4/RS5 can be a Force fed V8. .

My facts are coming from a info spec that was leaked from Audi. It was about Audi's upcoming engines.
The spec state that the RS4/RS5 will not downsize and stay with 4.2litre V8 engine. It could be either Naturally Aspirated, Supercharged or Twin turbo. I hope its the latter because I love turbo's and their tuning potential.
I don't know how reliable the source is but there was a spec saying that a 4.0 TFSI V8 with 395hp is on the plans for the upcoming CLS fighter which is named as A7. If its true, there is a chance that it can be find its way in RS4/RS5 with a bump in HP/TQ.

About the hp, speculation suggest that it should be more then 450hp.

Anyway, my source for the upcoming engine spec from Audi is
http://www.motorauthority.com/cars/a...e-up-revealed/

Depending on fuel consumption, I might spring for an RS5 instead of an M3/C63.

Yea, that's what I am thinking too, but it might be M5 money. If not, it might be 70,000 base, and way over with options.

I doubt it will be similar in style or feel to the M3 so unless that doesn't concern you then the RS5 won't be for you, though it will be quicker in every way but in typical Audi style.

I test drove the S5 and found it perfectly fine in terms of driving. Sure, the steering is way too light, especially at low speeds, and it felt a little too isolated, but it's a trivial compromise in the grand scheme of things.

As long as the RS5 doesn't get any heavier and gets turned up a notch in the visceral experience department, I'm all for it.

I read that Audi were the going the 'AMG' way. That means they will back off their 1 'RS' model per time motto and, move on to many 'RS' version for many.

So keeping that in mind, the special RS models won't be that exclusive and I hope to see a price drop. (RS4 price was outrageous at the time and still is if)

My prediction is it still won't be that low...M-turismo, I don't think it will be produced before 2010 and also dont bet on it being being less 70000.... . I think your better off with an M3

Audi is confused.....I certainly hope they make the next RS4/RS5 Turbocharged. I will be very disappointed if the stick with NA engine. Turbo's are in, NA are out.

Footie, I like your honesty on praising Audi against BMW in a BMW forum.....Really....

Anyway, I got the Audi 'fever' a few months ago when I saw the interior of A8....Its just perfect

Well, I read that the RS5 will be out in July of next year. I am guessing it's pretty accurate since it told by Audi's chief development engineer Michael Dick. Since I am getting my M3 around Dec, I can/will try very hard to hold myself back for the RS5 if the car is to die for. It comes down to the price. Can I get the car for 75,000 with options? Since the M3 is already at 70,000 with options I guess it won't hurt that much to add 5,000 more, but if it goes to like 80,000 then that's too much.

Michael Dick also gave the release dates on many other future Audi models.

2008
April
- A3 convertibel
May
- A4 Avant
- RS6 Avant
June
- A3 (face lift)
- new 2.0l Common Rail engine
July
- TT S
September
- Q5, A6 face lift, Q7 V12 TDI
October
- RS6 sedan
November
- TT TDI
December
- S4 sedan and Avant

2009
Januar
- Q7 full hybrid
Februar
- A5 convertible
March
- R8 V10
April
- A8
May
- R8 Roadster
June
- TT RS
July
- RS5
October
- A5 Sportback

2010
Jan
- Q3
Feb
- A1 (2door)
March
- A7
May
- RS4
October
- A3
December
- A1 (4door)

2011
Januar
- A6
Feb
- A7 convertible
March
- city (still a ? behind based on the VW up concept)
April
- Q5 full hybrid
October
- A1 Roadster
November
- A6 Avant
December
- R8 V12 TDI

2012
Jan
- A6 Allroad
Feb
- A4 facelift

The little techical specs that he gave..

- TT RS 350hp from a 5cyl

- Q5 SUV is based on the A4 quattro not on the VW Tiguan and shares nothing with the Tiguan

- New A6 use a all aluminum chassie and nearly all aluminium suspension to reduce the car weight in average by 100kg compared to competetive models of other brands

- 2008 Audi market the cleanest running diesel engine in the world

- the A1 will be avaible as full electirc car with plug in technology

- The 2008 Q5 is the first DSG equipped car with longitudinal mounted engine in Audis modle range

- possible that Audi starts production in the USA

- Audi slowly goes away from the all models look the same single fram front image.. as a begin the Q models recive more marked vertical struts in the grill, the sportive models recive flater wider single fram grills. But according to design chief Stefan Sielaff this will be a slow process.

Do you have anything in writing that you can post because my audi dealer told me late 2009 at the earliest for the RS5. I would love them to be proven wrong and be the one to show them.

Well, what I posted should be from a magazine according to the last sentence, "this is published in the auto motor und sport edition 5 14. Februar 2008". I found it online. Well, if July, 2009 is late 2009 then I guess your dealer is right.

There's also this part:

auto motor und sport made a interview with Audi chief development engineer Michael Dick.

He gave auto motor und sport the correct model release date from today till Feb. 2012.

Thanks will look for this on-line and print a copy.

I also see the TT-RS in mentioned in there for release in June 2009, that too will be a cracker little car, with 350hp and an old school Audi 5cylinder note playing in the background. I love the looks of the new TT, it's one of my favourite but up to now it's awd system has been very fwd bias. Is there anything on it in the writeup?

I posted everything I found, it's from this website http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/15/r...r-way-quickly/.
The RS5 is looking very good to me right now. 450hp and 500 torque! Both the RS5 and M3 look really good, but the RS5 will be more eye catching since it's more unique. Interior wise, no contest RS5 wins! I am guessing it will perform better than the M3, but even if it does not I would probably still pick it for its great looks, awesome interior, 450hp, and 500 torque! If it performs better than the M3 then it's a must get; if it does not it will be like a C63, but with better looks, better interior, more torque, and better handeling. Not as good as the M3 but for sure better than the C63, so it's still very attractive. Of course all this is just a guess. In the end it comes down to the price I think. If it's M3 price then I will probably get the RS5 instead, but if it goes to like 80,000 then that is too much. And of course, it also depends if I can wait that long! ><

Even if we see a price around 70k, we cannot stop this trend of markups on exclusive cars. And I'm sure RS5 will be one.

I read the other day the Audi are to introduce their own version of BMW X6 sports diff. If it improves the handling anyway like it does between the X5 and X6 then I reckon the RS5 will walk all over the M3 in every single discipline which people regard as important in a sportscar.

The M-Diff in the M3 is far superior to the electronic one in the X6.^

Forgive me, but how are you springing for a RS5?

I think its safe to say, the RS5 will have better fuel consumption than a C63. That thing probably chugs gas.

How much did a brand new RS4 cost back in the day? I ask because if people think its going to be less than that, they're sadly mistaken.
