Dow below 11,000 for first time in two years

Like McCain said, recession is all psychological.

He never said that...

So you're into totally making things up now that you've run out of half-truths? And, to be fair, even if he had said that, he'd be right. We're not in a recession right now going by the textbook definition. Economic slump yes, recession no.

maybe referring to McCain's Economic Advisor Dr. Phil Graham's speech, how we're "whiners" and in a "mental recession". believe McCain kicked him under the bus this morning for it.

Why not go to Iran's president, he said the oil hike is political, there is more production than consumption in the world today, but certain "political countries" are doing all they can to become the most lucrative with the spike....

Consumer Price Index is a joke. It's not a reliable indicator of inflation.

"Williams, who runs Shadow Government Statistics in Oakland, which tracks changes in inflation, unemployment, the gross national product and other data, said that over the past 25 years, the government has changed the method of calculating price increases in ways that have lowered the reported inflation rate."

CPI has nothing to do with being in a recession or not.

No, he didn't. You have trouble keeping different politicians straight? McCain never said anything like that.

Recap: 1) McCain didn't say anything remotely close to what you're suggesting, it was a member of his campaign and McCain has vehemently disagreed with his statements.
2) As has been said in the media, he's actually right. The data says we're not in a recession, but everyone is running around like the sky is falling. If consumer confidence were higher there wouldn't be a problem at all. Well, consumer confidence and Bernanke getting a pair, saying fuck growth, and cutting inflation.

I can't believe you have a problem with this. Firstly I'll admit that I didn't realize he said what was in that first clip, you're right there, but at the same time, I've got to agree with him. Everybody is running around like the sky is falling but really we're not is such bad shape and it's a self-fulfilling prophecy that there's a recession.

You would agree with him if he wanted to take a crap on your dinner table.
You are cheerleader for GOP that bought into bullshit rivalry between two parties.

Disclaimer: Congressional Dems are a disgrace for budging on FISA. Obama too.

It means 2 consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth, we haven't even had one yet.

If you actually paid attention to my posts you'd realize I dislike the republican party.

Who is running around? Be specific. People are legitimately concerned after gas prices doubled in last 6 months, dollar is at record low and we are fighting 2 wars with the 3rd one looming on the horizon.

You downplay it just like FIXed NEWS taught you to.

Gas prices, the dollar and war do not a recession make. Recession or not is entirely dependent on changes in GDP.

Everyone I know is living better today than they were 10 years ago. As time progresses one's wealth increases, so unless you're terribly unlucky or did something wrong, you'll always be better off 10 years in the future than you are today financially. There are exceptions of course, but if we were to take a longer term moving average of "well off-ness" it would show a definite upward trend.
