the truth is revealed "Nissan is Lying"

here is the proof that Nissan lies about GTR's real power : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yIhsv6WSboY

I believe that Nissan just lost its credibility. they went soo far to prove that they just made the unbeatable car. they are wrong

Cause when I'm shopping for a sports car, I don't care about performance, I want the car whose output is exactly what the manufacturer claims.

Yes, I wish BMW would of returned to it's lying practices with the M3 and significantly underrated it like they did with the 335. 430+ hp versus 414 would of left a really bad taste in my mouth. Thank goodness for BMW's new found integrity.

I thought there were variances in all engines and that by saying 480hp, they are giving a pretty much guaranteed minimum HP figure. In addition, the Z06, Ford GT, and some others are also all underated to some extent too.

I'll wait for an owner to dyno his car. Remember when Edmunds dynoed their 335i tester at 300whp?

I think everyone will keep doubting the GTR performance until a lot of owners dyno their car. This argument for the GTR will go on forever, I for one believe the GTR speeds and times at factory settings are plausible and not at all impossible.

Vindicated. (For those of you that don't remember, I am the fellow that came out here very early and very strong with the statement that the car simply must be under-rated (or a variety of other similar/weaker hypotheses)

Sure it is cool that you get more than advertised. Nonetheless a slimy and dishonest maneuver by Nissan.

Underpromise and overdeliver.

The GT-R has always been underrated. Would you seriously complain if you got more power than you paid for?

This is not the first dyno test of a U.S. spec car that we've seen and have been posted here that dynoed at 430hp from the wheels. The question is and always have been is how much is power loss and how much is it really on the crank, we still don't know that.

Sure the times may be plausible when the car has 40-50 hp and gobs more torque than advertised. I still highly doubt a sub 7:30 ring time.

Do you mean the one that is apparently making about 435 HP at the crank, or the one that appears to be making over 600 HP at the crank? Or the MT sample? The extreme variation in tested samples is the one thing that is bothersome to me.

I have no idea what the plan is, but the engine will be SAE certified at 480 HP, unless Nissan does an about face on current practice, which is unlikely.

The MT test feels about right, but I have to say I have no good idea how much power is lost at the wheels with the GT-R setup. We've talked about this endlessly, but I don't remember if Nissan does the Porsche thing in terms of essentially making it a 2wd car unless traction is lost, or not. If they do something along those lines, power lost on the chassis dyno may in fact be 15%, or even less. Something closer to the M3 loss may in fact be correct for this car. I'm just talkin', though. As mentioned, I have no idea.

Bruce,

I posted something similar on another tread, awd system are really tricky to figure correctly and unless the some actually removes any engine from a car, tests it's figures on a testbed and then figures the car complete with engine we and the dyno guys will always be guessing the true lose caused by the drivetrain.

Exactly my point. Who knows if the GTR only loses 15% or maybe even 10% at the wheels. Either way, it will probably still be certified at 480hp like you said.
