Driving Manual Tranny

I, too, could stand a few hours behind a manual tranny before I order the E92 M3. I have had about 3 hours worth of time with a manual tranny and that was a couple of years ago. Both of my M3's have been SMG mainly because I drive in a high traffic area (the DC-MD-VA area). However, I really don't want to spend the extra $2700 required to get the DCT and would much rather get a 6MT, as I will have a daily driver by then.

Does anyone know of a place in Maryland that rents manual cars?

good luck! i live in the metro dc area and finding a manual transmission to rent is high near impossible to do. Just have your sales guy teach you and you'll be fine. I had maybe 6 hours under my belt of driving stick and i left the dealer and drove home fine. Just remember the clutch engagement point is really quick on this car and youll be all good. If you havent purchased yet make sure to check out my man Yves Badji at passport bmw, best price and experience around the area!

you also may want to visit youtube website and search
"How to drive a Manual Transmission car", I did a search and it came with TONS of videos.

I had a very good HOW-TO at one time saved from the M5board that teaches
match revving etc, w/c are more advance. I'll post it when i find it

Dont ever get caught up with heel and toe, I havent seen much regular drivers I know that is it worth their time that they do it on the road.

Now if you are on a Track Car or racing then Maybe.
