I was at Summit Point Jefferson circuit last year with the BMW CCA when the organizers decided to throw a "practice" red flag in the middle of the session. I had just exited the last corner before the pit straight running CW and had moved right to pass two cars in front of me. As I accelerated, the relative movement of the cars being passed blocked the flag stand for an extended period of time. The two cars I was passing put on their brakes and I assumed they were entering the pits. As soon as they slowed I caught view of the flag. I came on the brakes using moderate braking, then as I began to slow I looked in the mirror and the guy behind me was approaching me quickly from behind. I eased up on the brakes so he didn't run into me, if I hadn't eased up, he easily could have hit me.

I talked to him later and his view of the flag was also blocked. It wasn't pretty but everyone got stopped safely.

I think my view of the flag was only blocked for 3-5 seconds, but it made for a potentially dangerous situation. I have in car video of the whole thing, I'll see if I can find it and post it here somewhere.

Scary when people just don't pay attention. If someone brakes in an area that they shouldn't, that in itself should be a red flag in your head.

Today I watched a Subaru miss the checkered flag on the straight, keep on accelerating and almost rear end an M3 at the end of the straight that had begun to cool down. The Subaru had to swerve way out to avoid the M3 and probably missed him by a 2-3 of feet.

mistake none the less, gotta be aware of what the track conditions are, it's every driver's responsibility.

GT3RS are still going for about $180K, he's paying one way or another.

Just caught this thread. The owner of the blue car is a friend of mine. It saddens me to see that car damaged. Thankfully the guy that did his saftey equipment really knows his stuff.

He says the roll cage saved his life. Unfortunately, he hurt his back though, so I gave him some medical advice on that thread based on my experiences. Hopefully, he won't need surgery...
