My M history

Do you have an M history? Or is this your first one? (I saw pics from skierman and was inspired to post these. See my questions at the bottom of the post).

First was my 98 Techno M3 coupe.

Dove interior:

Then the infamous 97 Byzanz M3 sedan. Black interior...

Then, THE cleanest E36 I had ever seen, 99 Alpine on Magma M3 coupe. Bought it with 21,300 miles from the original owner (this was in 2005).

I only had the Alpine car for a year (I couldn't NOT buy the Alpine E36 it because it was so perfect, though at the time I was shopping for E46 M3s... )

2003.5 Titanium on Black M3 SMG.

So the big question is, WHAT IS NEXT? I can't decide between coupe or sedan, carbon roof or moonroof, 6speed vs DCT, WHAT THE HECK COLOR...

Any help you guys can offer would be greatly appreciated. I am working with my dealer to get their first build spot for 2009.

What is your M history?

Great collection. DCT is just better than SMG so get it.

Those are beautiful E36 M's. I would have kept the Alpine for sure.

My E92, if it ever gets here, will be my second bimmer, but my first M.

Very nice collection! Lots of good times on the road I am SURE.

How did you like your E36 M3 coming from the Z3? (You then went to the M roady that is why I ask)

Very nice history. Great thread! I wish I could contribute but this will be my first ///M and second BMW. The first BMW I ever drove was an E36 M3 however. That got me hooked.

Cool. I ALMOST bought a Byz. M3 back in the day...nice!

Here is my history...

95 M3 -- Avus Blue/Dove Grey -- mods included AA turbo, etc, etc. I got it put in the Summer 1999 issue of BMW Power Magazine. This was just after the turbo install and it ran like shit as the software was botched (long story). I did a shoot-out against a RMS SC'ed M3. He cheated, long story, but both were great cars. Sold it to some young kid locally (in stock form) who went away to school and hardly drove it for two years. Then he sold it to a local guy who ended up being the Chief Driving Instructor's dad at one of the clubs I instruct for. On the first session, he promptly blew a few rods out of the side of the block. Sad story.

Second M3 was a 97 sedan -- Arctic Silver/dove grey. Fully tracked out with GC suspension, Fikse wheels, etc. I did some motor mods and ended up with 75 more WHP than stock (all work done at the same place and tested on same dyno). That car was fun fun fun but I got bored after 3 years and bought a GT3.

Third M3 2008 E90 -- SSII/Black, DCT, etc.. On the boat still...will pick her up on 7/28!

12:03, sorry took so long, been gone....

Went to the E36 M3 from Z3 because I always wanted an M3 and at the time the 2 seater was not practical anyway, had our 3rd child in 1998 and needed our 2nd car to be able to haul everyone. Wife had a Honda minivan (hated it!)

Missed the conv so bit the bullet and bought the M Roadster when it came out. Now I had the M3 and the M roadster, and traded the minivan for the new Acura MDX when they came out in fall 2000.

In 2001 traded the E36 for the E46 M3, and traded it last year for the X5.

New M3 is currently on the ship!

Its sad that you sold those great cars, they would make great collector cars, esp that Byzanz.
