Golf Tee mod for M3?

Does anybody know if you can do the golf tee/unplug the cable mod in a E92 M3? I'm talking about the mod that opens up both exhausts all the time in the 335.

Thanks

Isnt this a modification to the dual turbo system in the 335 and would have no effect on the NA V8 in the M3?

No. There is a valve in the exhaust system of the 335 that opens up both exhausts at high RPMs, and keeps the left one closed at idle/low RPMs.

This "mod" keeps the valve open all the time to make the car sound better/louder.

Despite a vague recollection of seeing such a valve configuration on an early M3 (mule?) the production cars do not have such a system. I'd really like one with both automatic control and a manual over ride. How cool would that be? I know some aftermarket guys offer such a system but direct from BMW would be cool.

After reading the title of this thread I was thinking it was some way of modding the trunk to accept one more golf bag.

I was thinking along those lines too, or maybe a gold tee holder or some sort. I was so curious, I had to check it out!

I don't think the M3 exhaust has such a valve. But, I don't have my damn car yet to see for myself. But from what I have read, there is no such thing.

One manufacturer does make such an exhaust for the M3 though. The idea is to keep it quiet when you need too (cops, etc.), and let her wail when you want too....maybe that is what you saw?

If it has the vacuum valve (like virtually every other BMW does for sound regulations and cat warmup) just unplug the vacuum hose and stick a screw or golf tee in it. Then the butterfly valve will stay open all the time for a bit more sound and deeper tone.

That's exactly my question. Does the M3 have the valve to open up all 4 exhausts? Or are they open ALL the time?

I think they are all open all the time. I don't think there is a valve anywhere in the exhaust system.

Look at this pic of the Concept car last year--there was definitely a vacuum valve in it. Guess it didn't make it to production:

Yep, Swamp noted that earlier in this thread, but of course, you are resourceful as usual, and nailed down the picture! I am pretty sure it's not in the production system in any form...
