How to remove M3 trunk lip spoiler correctly?

Ok folks, I purchased a CF M3 lip spoiler for my trunk lid.

The question is how do you suggest I remove my OEM M3 spoiler? And when I do, how do I remove the remaining residue on my trunk?

Thank you for you suggestions and tips. I will post pictures during the process. I estimate my lip spoiler should be arriving sometime this week.

Anthony

It’s been a few years but what worked well with my E46, as I recall, was slowly working fishing line between the spoiler and the trunk lid to separate them and then Goo-Gone to remove the residue of the 3M double-sided tape.

This could work...some people use dental floss, but that might not be strong enough. Also would recommend a hair dryer. Be careful with the goo-gone, you might want to dilute it because it could damage the clear coat.

Goo-Gone didn't hurt the clear coat. Doing it on a hot, sunny day helps.

Use a heat gun or hair dryer to soften the tape on the bottom of the spoiler then use floss or fishing line to get between the trunk and tape.

Is the OEM lip spoiler held on by 3m double sided tape too?

If it's impossible to remove with goo gone, goof off, or any of those other adhesive removers, sometimes you have to use what's called an eraser pad. This is what professional shops use and I'm sure if you don't want to buy the pad itself, you can go to a body shop and they will make quick work of your tape for next to nothing. Sometimes that stuff is really hard to remove so that's why you use these pads. They are safe and you can buy pads that will fit your drill.
