Angry Car and Driver - MDCT Slower?

http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/..._test/(page)/1

I took a quick look and hope it is not a repost....I have been busy so I haven't followed the boards too closely lately.

BWM should have geared the 7 speed better!

Sorry, but this is a repost! Motor Trend did a short bit on DCT and loved it.

Oh gawd!

C&D wrote in the article itself that they achieved 4.3sec with the 6MT and an indentical 4.3sec with the DCT.

The real advantage here, and I wish I didnt have to keep saying it, is that with the DCT you are going to hit 4.3sec 0-60 every single time while with the 6MT you might achieve a sub 4.5sec run one try out of every five times.

You will get expert down shifts into corners and upshifts on exit every single time without having to actually be an expert.

"After scouring the test results for some useful conclusion, the answer is “not really.” The M DCT car hit 60 mph in 4.3 seconds, cleared the quarter-mile in 12.7 at 113 mph, and achieved 150 mph in 26 seconds flat. Compare that to the six-speed manual’s numbers of 4.3, 12.8 at 113, and 24.3, respectively. If you zoom in even closer and look at each 10-mph increment, the two cars trade off which is quicker until 120 mph, when the manual starts pulling away."

Up to 120mph they are equal. If you want to start looking at road courses I think you will find most (not all) arent straight enough to achieve much more than that in the M and the DCT is going to be quicker. The CSL was equiped with SMG for a reason...

P.S. And all this so called "data" is based on two cars used on two seperate days with two different conditions.
