kinda funny... I like the end part about it's not what you drive but how you drive it... well if you think about that, who drives an M3 like the video? I've never gotten 19 mpg in mine unless maybe when I'm on cruise control on the highway. The other interesting thing about the Prius is how to get rid of the battery when the car is done.

LOL love it. Unfortunately, there is so much HATE and dogma on the "green" side of the debate, that a light-hearted piece like this is unlikely to sway the argument.

19 mpg (that is UK gallons) is quite realistic for the M3 driving in that fashion (no stopping/idling but lots of corners). I get about 18 mpg (UK) following Prii (plural of Prius?) in urban traffic.

thats a good one.

thks

Actually the Prius does better in the city stop-and-go traffic, since the battery take more of the beating. Its Hway is much less than its City MPG since thats when the gas engine takes over. Now on the Civic hybrid its vice versa.

but again the tubevid is very amusing

hey - my part in saving the planet and huggin trees (other than co-owning 100 acres of open space with oaks and California walnuts) is living 7 miles from my work. so I am doing more for the green in my M3 than the hippie drivin his prius 70 miles from Banning to LA to work every day!

great video ( will be sharing with friends today... its a joy to watch)!

prius is also wasting such a lot of resurces by beeing transported from asia to europe, but our envroiment-minister wants the germans to drive it instead of our bmws, mercs, audis etc...
id guess someone was very lazy in the mathlessons

uh - dont forget the strip mining of mercury and nickel for the Prius batteries in CHina and Canada.....and how do you recycle the toxic mix? also the energy that goes into producing, recylcing and replacing the batteries must be taken into account.

hug a tree for me.

This is why I have some reservations about the green movement that has become vogue of late in the United States: it is full of hypocrisy and finger-pointing. There are very few people who are willing to curtail their environmental burdens UNLESS there is a social pressure to do so. For example, it was only after Mr. Gore received intense media scrutiny based on his massive home energy bill that he began to take steps to ensure that it's consumption was reduced. I doubt he would have went to the expense and trouble of updating the home with solar paneling, etc. if there wasnt the social pressure to do so.

One should take the sum of their daily activities to deem whether or not they are environmentally conscious. It won't be just the car you drive, but how you consume in all your daily activities. The car is just the easiest thing to criticize and finger point for the simpletons.

Fortunately or unfortunately, cars and driving are one of the few things in life that I find pleasure, and I am more willing to cut out other environmental burdens to allow me that pleasure. (I also live in an area that benefits from the petrochemical refining industry and I can justify the extra expense of owning a V8 as pumping money into my local economy, trickling down to me eventually).

I wonder if its possible to burn through an entire tank is a Prius with such bad mileage? It'd be fun to try it. Once.
