Question Stone chips on Carbon Roof - How to Fix? [One Pic]

My M6 has a couple of stone chips and scratches on the carbon roof.....what is the best way to fix?

I imagine the M3s will face the same issues.

Cheers!

The scratche could just be polished out, but I'm not sure about chips. It is amazing how rock chips get everywhere. I have considered a clear bra but it would need to envelop the car.

I think I will get a clear bra put on the roof, I'm assuming chips on the carbon are much harder to fix than on paint. Ask your dealer and see what they recommend. Maybe the clear coat over the carbon can be touched up?

I have noticed one spot where there is a rock chip on the roof. It's pretty small though.

where are you getting the chips? is it near the front or all over. maybe I will clear bra the entire car....HAHAHAHHAAAA - its been done on more expensive cars.

my e46 M3 had a few rock chips on the roof. the good part is they are not as noticable as the hood.

that sucks...never really thought that would be an issue. i've never had a rock chip on my roof, but i guess that doesn't mean it can't and won't happen. hope you can touch it up.

At the front edge....looks like stones hit it. Leaves a little dent and scratch.

Nothing major but irrating none-the-less

Just keep in mind that a premium price cannot always be extracted from a premium kept car. It was not a fun thing to find out, but no scratches on the rims (winter and summer), no door dings, weekly details, garage kept, and neurotic maintenance schedules do not translate into a higher sale price. At least over here.

Keep it looking as pretty as possible for yourself, and yourself only. I am much more relaxed (but not lax) about my new M3 than my previous cars, after seeing my most recent car sit on the market and depreciate after chopping the price a couple of times. I would not mind keeping it, but in the end I only drive the M3 anymore.

try to polish it - may help hide it.

its possible you could fill it with touch up clear coat, wet sand and polish - have done that with a few chips - works but takes time.

Try using Optimum Polish to get it out. Keep in mind that the extremely thin clear coat on the CF roof might not have stopped the rocks from going down into the fiber. My suggestion would be to take it to a pro detailer that can assess the depth of the chips.

They wont polish out, the clearcote is too hard on the roof. Ive tried it on a chip on my roof with my Porter Cable and it had no effect. Sayemthree's suggestion is your only option.

Im just going to leave mine. As QShip says, it makes sod all difference come time to sell. I spent hours and hours keeping my previous car, a modified V6 TT, in better than showroom condition (and lots of cash) and it made sod all difference when I sold it. Now I dont have the time and you know what, with half the time and half the effort people still comment on how clean my car always is (helps with it being white and bright so the eye cannot focus on blemishes).
