Break-in after the break-in-period?

Hey Guys,

what do you think about the requirement of a break-in after the break-in-service?

i mean: we have new oil etc in the car, may i run the car to limit after the service or shoud i break it in again a bit ( e.g. runing 500rpm per 100miles extra: 1300 - 6000 1400 - 6500 a.s.o.) ?

I'm following the manual: "Fromt 1200 miles/2000 km to 3000 miles/5000 km - Engine and road speeds can be increased gradually up to a traveling speed of 135 mph/220 kh/h. Use the maximum speed only for brief intervals, e.g. when passing."

In case the sticker tells 1,250 miles, yes.

Best regards, south

After 1,200 miles, I let her rip. Still strong to this day, 3,000 miles and counting.

I took mine to the track at 1500 miles too - but I did the math first:

- at 4500 RPM you have the same power to weight ratio as a North American E36 M3

- at 6000 RPM you have the same power to weight ratio as an E46 M3.

I short shifted at 6500 and didn't use full throttle more than once in a while and the car was plenty quick. I'm going back out again in another week, and if I still haven't hit the magic 5000 km mark (3200 miles) I'll just relax, take it easy, and enjoy the day.
