jinx,

how thick is the tape that you include?

how many layers of tape have you used on the 3 cars that you have tried this on?

i really want these, and think that they look good in the ebay pics, but am a little sketched out by the whole tape layering thing. Tape rigging a 70k car just seems a little whak.

I hope that i am wrong though...

Well we really had no choice on using double sided tap for this. we originally wanted to make them pop in and out like the tow hook covers but ran into 2 problems.

1 they would wobble around just like the tow hook covers
2 it would be near impossible to make brackets that would fit every car exactly the same.

as for depth of the mounting the reason we use this method was because the brackets don't have a snap in place fitment. Each application placement will be different whether it be rotated differently further in or further out. Each installation can very.

On a side note I am extending the group buy time period a additional week. for thous that do place orders by Jun 1st I will still ship your orders out by Jun 4th. All orders placed between Jun 1st and Jun 7th will ship out by Jun 11th.

As I get customer feedback and photo's I will post them for you.

How easy will it be to remove the reflector once installed? Looks like it will be tough, i know how hard double sided tape can be... And some black reflectors installed on black cars would be great too.

looks pretty good i must say. i wasn't a fan of the first group-buy reflectors that were produced, but these flush-mounted ones look great.

i still hope that someone produces some smoked reflectors at some point though.

for now though, count me in on this group buy. SPACE GRAY

Any pics? I think this will look best for darker colored cars.

Looks pretty nifty but color matching is what I am concerned with. It looks like those pictured are off in color. Can I buy an unpainted set for a little less and have them painted at a local shop?

What do OEM reflectors cost? This might be a bood DIY....

They are painted with the OEM paint and clearcoat. Little ghetto to be using double-sided tape for this. He had mentioned that all cutouts arent the same. Huh? The how do the SAME reflectors fit in the hole? Also, I havent noticed my tow hook budging once.

OEM reflectors cost approx $18 + tax each aka $18 for the left side and $18 for the right. So your looking at spending approx $40 off the bat just for the reflectors from BMW. Then finding a shop that will paint them my guess for it to be worth wild would be approx $40 to $60. Not a lot of paint needed for one set but the problem is to color match BMW factory there is a minimum amount that needs to be mixed.

This approach works best if you know a shop well that deals with a lot of BMW. Drop off the set and ask them to paint it when every another vehicle of the same color gets painted. Many have that done and shops usually don't charge when its done this way and you know them.

BMW OEM reflectors are spring loaded to hold in place. When I mention the cutouts not being the same we are talking 1 to 3 MM difference its not a lot. The double sided tape has nothing to do with the cut outs. Dependent on how the mounts are placed it can change the depth of installation. That is where the double sided tape comes into play. It will never be seen and it gives you the ability to remove the inserts without any damage.

The tow hook cover doesn't move up down left or right it moves in and out (depth).

We tried to make this application user install friendly. it is possible to make mounting hardware to resemble the tow hook better but would require our customers to remove their bumpers.

why don't you just paint the ones you already own and save the $40 needed to buy new OEM ones?

Why does one of my reflectors have two large tabs? Is that right? Doesn't appear to leave much room on the right side of the install to nestle it against the backing.

Jinxter, good effort but looks like Yahtzee killed your business plan based on the less than perfect fit on his pics on his new thread.... thoughts / comments?
