Extended Service
So question. I picked up my car last week, and was offered extended warranty and service from the dealer. I remember reading here a while back that the service was not being offered by BMWNA, but I was assured it was.
I mean I bought it, cause that is a must, but just wanted to check with others what their experience has been and how much they paid. Also who else bought tire protection? Thanks |

I was also offered extended service. It extends the service and warranty past the 4 years 50,000 miles to 6 years. I honestly didn't know if I was going to keep the car past 4 years so I did not buy it. There is an option to buy it before the warranty ends, I might do that. I also bought the wheel and tire insurance. I mean it cost me 995 for 5 years coverage and no deductable or maximum limit and that more than covers a new wheel if you run into a pothole.

WOW... 995, thats crazy...
I paid like 650, and 1800 for the service contract. All in all was like 2581 or something for the service extension and the tire warranty. So I guess not a bad deal. But I just hope they don't come back to me and tell me that I can't get it... |

What is included in your tire warranty? How many years is that for? I think 995 is fair for the parts and terms that is covered. I mean 650 would have been better.

I think its 5 years, as for what is covered, it replacement of tire if they cannot repair. As far as costs, I think he said 200/Tire covered 2K max or something like that. Honestly I don't remember and need to look at the contract. I mean honestly, I get two tires out of it and it's paid.

extended WARRANTY plus extended service
i was told these were 2 seperate items: quote over phone ~$3K for extended warranty (6years/100k) and ~2K for service... may take the extended warranty only for major repairs (engine/transmission etc) and since i am not tracking car may not take $2k for service (oil changes/ brake pads etc)....
can anyone advise what is their price for extended warranty? |

That sounds about right. I think they quoted me like 3200 for the warranty and 1800 for the service. I think the service was cheap given what you get. I mean a couple of brake jobs, and two oil inspections and you're good to go. And I know for a fact that the price will go up before the end of the 4 years.

I'm sorry you are correct. It does cover wheels and tires, which I though was a must especially since I have the 19's and they are low profile tires...
Not sure who is the provider, pretty sure not BMW, if I am not mistaken it's Hendrick Automotive Group, but that might be wrong. I will post more when I have the paperwork in front of me. |

Did you read the tire and wheel fine print. Mine states "will not cover tires that hold air". Bent rims that hold air and tires with huge bubbles will not be covered....... Most warranties have the same wording. I guess you could always stick a nail in the sidewall or hit it with a 5lb hammer but I am honest guy.

I purchased two offers from Long Beach BMW:
1. tire and wheel protection for $935 2. Extended warranty up to 7 years/100,000 miles for $3495 Hope this helps any of you. I wish I could have received the tire and wheel protection for $499, that is really cheap! Jason

So here is no surprise. Like everyone else here, I got a call from the finance manager who said that they are NOT selling ext. service's for the //M and will be refunding my money.
Has anyone successfully purchased it or all have the same problem? |

My finance man was also pretty convincing about the extended warranty. Honestly more especially with M cars an extended warranty is a must if you plan to keep the car that long. Sounds like something I ran into with a dealer that was trying to sell me a "CPO" M5 , as we all know BMW does not CPO M cars anymore.

So you suggest I get the extended warranty? I really was unsure about that given I don't know what the car maintenance will look like. In reality if I have a car with no problems I really cannot justify spending almost 4K now for a plan that I may only use 2-3 times and end up paying about the same amount.

I recommend it, I have had my car for just one month and already I had an EDC failure. My car insurance (geico) offers this extended warranty if you can't get it from BMW, hopefully you can get one from yours.
