Amazing! Bigger rotors (both diameter AND thickness) and seemingly bigger calipers and yet still lighter in both parts. I was dead wrong here. Not only must the hats be larger (more aluminum and less steel) but the cast iron discs themselves must be more vented internally.

Total rotating reduction = 15.2 lb, total overall = 24.6 lb. A decent reduction for sure but I'll still firmly believe there is no way you can feel this.

I should be getting my BBK in with lighter wheels also this month. I'll try and see if I can feel the difference. Cheers!

Hey OC kid, how sure are you on the weight of the rear rotor? The reason I'm asking is that the difference between the 380x34 vs 380x28 is a whopping 7.8 pounds. That just doesn't seem right to me.

I was as stunned as you....especially since they are not all that far off in size.

I am doing a swap out again Mon or Tues and will post pics with each on the scale for you.

Thanks man. I will have BBK by Tuesday. But I looked back at this thread for weight savings and saw the difference between front and back rotors and it didn't make sense. There is an error somewhere I believe and I just wanted to clarify. We're talking 6mm and different hats maybe, but 7.8 pounds is a lot of weight.

No error badfish...just a lot more material on the fronts. It adds up.

Thanks for doing that. I have some doubts as to the accuracy of the bathroom scale though. I don't know about this one but I have one that varies a bit depending on where I step, I couldn't use it to weight objects with small footprints. If you still have them off maybe step on the scale with each rotor and subtract your weight (about 345 pounds) and then see if it's the same.

It does appear that the thicker rotor is a lot beefier in all aspects so that picture of the rotors themselves says a thousand words.

I'm going with a 355x32 on my rears which is about 19 pounds.

Thanks again!

Yeah... you're right, it's just a freaking $50 bathroom scale. But the tolerances on this thing are closer to +/-.5 lbs. It's not going to be that far off of actual. I determined this after weighing each rotor alone on the scale 10 different times in three different ways, including stepping on the scale while holding the rotors, and simply took averages. I knew someone would mention the bathroom scale and its inherent flaws, I just didn't think it would be you.

Haha, no I do trust it is pretty close. Like I said, the front rotor is a lot beefier all around so that explains a lot of where that weight went. If it were the same type of design with the thinner rotor you would not see that much of a weight difference.

Red works on that car, but if I was going with a set of Brembos they would have to be Black to go with my Blue car.
