Detailing Spray?

I've seen numerous mentions of using detailing spray in between washes, etc. to keep the car looking it's best. I've done some searching around, but really couldn't see much more info on these products. What exactly is detailing spray? Who makes the best stuff? Is this something that must be used strictly with a microfiber cloth (spray on, wipe off) or can it be used with something like a california duster? Hints & tips?

I need to get supplied up.

There are a number of good ones. They're best for a quick clean up between washes, removing bugs, bird shit, etc. Micorfiber cloth is good. I happen to use Griot's Garage "Speed Shine", which I buy by the gallon and use with a quart aprayer.

Off the shelf, stay away from the Meguairs Quik detailer. It sucks. I think the NXT is a bit better. But I like to use Mothers Showtime Instant detailer, it's the one that smells like cinnamon. I know paintshops sponsored to pimp Meguairs products that secretly use Mothers.

Someone just asked this on the other forum. I have tried almost every QD "quick detailer" on the market and here is what I had to say.

Chemicalguys SpeedWipe all the way! http://www.chemicalguys.com/Pink_Qui..._p/wac_102.htm

*For a maintenance wash just spray it on the car when it is wet and as you dry buff it in.

*For a full detail use it when you are completely done applying all sealants, and wax's. When you are buffing products on and off the paint you are encountering friction therefore causing static energy. If left alone you car will attract dust, pollen, and all other airborne particles. If you finish with SpeedWipe it will greatly reduce the static energy you have created because of the products "anti-static" property therefore reducing the accumulation of airborne particles.

That's just glorified water. Try Mothers and never use it again... I know there are better sprays out there but Meguiars is the worst I've ever used.

Sure, roof is clear coated and waxed, so no different than paint. I mostly use it on lower areas to remove bugs and light road dirt, though. Bird crap on the roof is a definite use, though. I keep a small bottle in the trunk well along with MF cloth for this.

I haven't tried those, but with other similar products, the towelette is too small and not as good as MF. The bottle and microfiber towel would be better, IMO. You can fit quite a bit in that underfloor area in the trunk. In mine: jack, diposable poncho, latex gloves, detailing spray, interior cleaner, microfiber cloth, tire plug kit, space blanket.

I've used Griots SpeedShine, Zaino Z6, and now currently using Adam's Quick Detailer.

Make sure you get good high quality microfiber.

I try to do quick detailing everyday since the M3 is not parked in a garage and always outdoors.

I recommend "chemical guys products." You can check them out online. Very friendly and helpful staff. I just started using their products- detailing spray and waterless cleaner aka "one." Their stuff is amazing. Staff away from pep boys and the stuff they sell there or at other automotive centers. Just got done washing, claying, jetsealing, and waxing my new car. Apparently the dealer didn't do that great a job as evidence from the claying process.

FOAM FTW!

I order most of my care care products from Griots but I found this stuff at Target. I use it after every wash, easy to use and it is the only foam wax I have been happy with so far. It works great because it doedn't run like liquid. It's actually fun to use!
