Best Window Tint?
Wanted to put a relatively light tint on my windows as i live in Louisiana and we bake down here when getting into the car. Any thoughts on the best quality tint? Any things i should think about/asking when searching for someone to put it on?
Thanks. |

This is a new 3m film that I love. Living in AZ i have had many cars with tint and this has been the best.. its 20% but they have it in 30%. Its the color stable film.

I have 35% on my X5 and my 997...great and love it. Not too dark for nightime and just the right amount for daytime in my humble opinion. I went with like 21% or something on my old 325i and freaking hated it at night. Looked good but when you needed to roll your windows halfway down at night on a dark road to gain visibility I knew it HAD to come off! LOL

thanks. I'm definitely going with a 30%+ as i don't want it too dark. To ask more detailed questions, formula1 has a bunch of different types. Any recommendations? Also, i have seen some tint that looks too mirrored. Any idea what to look out for? Finally, i spoke with a highly reputable tint place in town and they recommended SolarGuard. Has anyone had experience with them? They also have a bunch of different lines.
again, thanks for the help. |

I went with Huper Optik, which costs a bit more than Formula One. 50 on the front, 40 on the back windows. Paid $500 installed at Song's Tint Masters.

i'm in Baton Rouge. I looked on the Formula 1 website and they indicated no tint places in town although it also didn't say anyone in N.O. installed it either so their website is probably inaccurate.

I'm in New Orleans as well. I have Huper Optik on my current M3 but the place in Ocean Springs, MS that put it on pre-Katrina no longer sells it. FormulaOne requires a trip to Alexandria or the Panhandle to get. There's a place downtown on Carondelet that I think might sell Huper Optik now, but not sure.

thanks all for the input. looked around online there is plenty to choose from. 3m also has a new non-metallic as well. From what i'm reading the non-metallic, scratch resistent is the ticket. Most of the major brands offer this new tint. I'll go with one of your recommendations as long as i don't have to go too far to find it. i'll probably call Huper Optik to see if they've got a place in N.O. or go to the place in Alexandria. Good excuse for a drive when my ride comes in.

I have 3M tint all around one of my other cars and Huper Optik on my M3. There is no comparison, the Huper Optik is a superior film. The heat rejection difference between the two films you can feel immediately.
