Does it?
I agree...it is pretty odd, and I don't see it happening any time soon!

I honestly don't see a CSL model this year. Maybe more toward the end of next year.

I reckon the resulting performance and reviews of the Nissan GTR has made many heads scratch in all of the German Performance Divisions, not only BMW's M Division. So I believe if the CSL was about to be launched this year they have quickly reversed that decision and have went back to the drawing board to find more power and performance.

Best guesses is that anything less than 460hp (true hp) and a maximum weight of 1400Kgs will not cut it.

This will be interesting. It has the potential to be a GT-R performance beater but we shall see. I doubt it will be any faster in the 0 - 60 benchmark than the GT-R, which will make all the posers say that the GT-R is still the better car. But we know better. The real interesting question for me, besides torque curve and weight are

1. Will they sell the CSL in the US and for how much?
2. How loud will it be?
3. How much comfort and practicality will be lost? If I were going to get a CSL less comfort and practicality would not bother me at all. In fact, they should strip all the electronic wizardry out too -- Nav, power seats, PDC, EDC, etc. Just don't put a cardboard floor in the trunk.

I donīt know Footie, seems funny that BMW would release the CLS version a few months after they release the base line M3. I donīt pretend to know all that much about BMW M division and what they generally do, but it does seem odd. Whatever the case, I am pretty certain M will come up with a wonderful CLS version and I hope this is sooner rather than later.

I will still be very surprised if the CSL comes to NA. Especially at the price it will probably cost and with the low demand people will have for a BMW without any Luxuries.

Plus it may be strategically sound to wait for the next Audi RS model (RS4/RS5) and the purportedly upgraded 911 S models in order to properly counter with an M3 CLS.

You know the GT-R V-spec has unofficially lapped the Ring in 7:25

Why pay considerably more for a stripped out and lightened M3 when you can buy a bare bones M3 for $54k and strip it down and mod it yourself if you really wanted a track car. Most track enthusiasts prefer this route anyway. And for that coin, there are many better options for banging out faster lap times. You could get a very clean 996 GT3 that would pwn whatever CSL version BMW could ever produce for $85k USD.

Yes. I am biting my tongue.

I am trying to lead a more relaxed way of life. Therefore I'm going to ignore comments regarding cardboard floors of trunks, questions asking what the "M" button does or whether it's possible to get the sedan with a carbon fibre roof.

I won't last one week.
