Break squeal?

Am I the only one whos brakes squeal at low speeds when coming to a slow stop? I am figuring that this will go away after the breaks are worn in a bit.

my brakes squealed after the first 10 or so miles only. They have been completely quiet ever since.

Mine squealed for the first 100 miles but the haven't made any noise since then and now i have 900 miles on them. If it continues have your dealer check it out.

Mine squeled too when I came to a stop, but now that I have 500+ miles, they don't squeal anymore. Give it some time.

Mine squealed between 100-500 miles but appear to have quieted down... at least for now

I will be happy when its over, I really enjoy driving friends around to show off the car and the brakes start singing. Talk about awkward.

850 miles and mine are still squealing sometimes at slow stops. I notice it to be more consistent when the car is still cold. If it doesn't completely go away by 1200 miles, I'll have the dealer check it out. I also plan to do the brake bedding that another member (GregW) suggested, but have not done so yet because the manual says you shouldn't do hard breaking for the first few hundred miles.

Here is the link to Bedding in brakes that Greg provided: http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm

I followed Greg's link to the bedding in procedures on brand new brakes. New brakes absolutely stink when you do this! I recall seeing some rotor photos from somebody who had done some driving but not bedded in the brakes, the criss cross marks of the manufacturing process were still evident on the rotor.

Just to clarify, I get quite a bit of squealing when the brakes are hot, but it also occurs during normal street driving, the conditions most conducive to this seem to be:

- a downhill slope
- very light brake application
- speed less than 10kph

If this were a 335 I would find it annoying, I accept these are performance brakes however so take the noise as part of the whole "M" package.

11,000+km and squeals like a little piglet under conditions as per Oz above (ok i exaggerate a little).
even my suspension squeals a little when i get into the car... but please ignore the fact that i'm an overweight b$#%d... ha ha...

not a major problem for me though... (the squealing, not the weight)

cheers
