Im sure there is a logical explanation, would love to hear/speculate on what that may be!!! Maybe the front bumper has to be filled with safety stuffing etc and no room left!! Hahaha!!!

Maybe they didn't want to make another bumper to accomodate the sensors for our market (since they have to use a special bumper for the US with reflectors they might not want to make yet another one).

I laugh whenever I see the imfamous bumper dimples on the various cars AND trucks. What a waste of money, IMO. Whatever makes people happy, I guess. I still say it's great to have more options than less though.

That could very well be the case!

That's what I speculated a couple months ago (post #5): http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...&highlight=PDC

My car came with PDC and it is nice to have, but if I were ordering a car I would probably not order it with it.

I personally like PDC, it does give you certainty regarding close objects etc... not to say that I would die w/o it, its just a nice feature to have.

If you have to wait till Sept to get your car, then I say get it ASAP if you are keeping the car for many many years.

Conversely if you are keeping your M3 for the standard 4 - 5 years that 3 months wait difference will be in your favor in terms of resale value IMO.

All depends on your personal situation

If we're talking about frivolous options we'd like:

1. Night vision
2. HUD
3. Backup camera
4. Heated steering wheel

I guess you missed my smiley face--I was just joking! While I don't feel the need for the option in this size vehicle, it doesn't matter to me if someone elese does.

Did you see this thread where I posted part numbers for these?

Not an F430, but this Ferrari 612 has PDC (note the small circles along the back bumper)
I noticed that this car and maybe one other Ferrari at the LA Auto Show had PDC and my friends and I were making jokes about it. When would you ever want to park a Ferrari in a space that needs the use of PDC?

That said, I find the PDC on my car very helpful in fitting into the small parking space I have in my condo building, which I have to back into. I could care less if I have those ugly round things in the front bumper of my car though....

Yes, I saw that but I would rather have the option of having it built that way to begin with rather than spending the money and doing the work of installing it. Actually, the smoking package really should be optional, not standard, in the US. Oh well.

I totally agree that ashtrays should be optional, but for $100 and 10 minutes work, I'll do the conversion myself. My parts should be here tomorrow.

This is readily available through BMW. I know it runs counter to my no PDC stance, but it's cool enough to make me think about it. Heck you can even get 360-degree view cameras!

01 Reversing camera retrofit kit for vehicles with on-board monitor - Set 66 21 0 412 010

only in conjunction with Additional kit, camera - 66 21 0 406 999
if not yet fitted with front camera.
