Different countrys diffrent services? e.g. Oil at 1200miles

I´d like to know what happens exactly at the 1200mile-service.

We dont have any service at 1200miles (first at about 10.000km/15.000km) at germany. Do you have a oilchange? In my manuals ( drove porsche and bmw) i were allways told that a oil change after the first miles ( e.g. 1200) isnt necessary any more ( there wont be any little ironparticles anymore with the new productiontechniques).

What´s your level of information?

There's also a run in service in Germany after about 2000km. I think only M cars still need such a service.

Best regards, south

Here in the US they mandate 1200 mile service - and its free. Even if it weren't I would do it myslef or have it done. BMW builds 'em real tight and I wouldn't feel comfortable leaving the original lubes in it for so long

As far as what happens we get engine, tranny, and diff lubes as well as a new oil filter (if they have any in stock!)
