Will E46 Shifter Knob Fit E92 M3?

I tried searching for this post. does anyone know if the e46 shift knob will fit on the e92 m3? i have a nice Hamann one id like to throw on my new M when i get it next week. i know the shifter knob is attached to the boot....which is a little annoying, i dont want to go hacking apart the leather in a bran new car.

is there anywhere i can purchase a new shift boot?

Yes, E46 knob (or most all BMW knobs) will work fine. Just get a regular 3-series boot.
