Remote Start

What are the possible solutions to getting a "remote start?" Does the dealer installed alarm offer this feature?

If not, can an aftermarket alarm use the BMW pre-wiring or are they not compatible?

Hmmm well the 6MT needs clutch in and a single push of the starter button.

Sounds simple in theory.

You made me laugh...

Obviously remote start would be impossible with MT, but is it available with the factory alarm with DCT?

Some of us live in really cold climates and enjoy getting into a warmed car.

I wasn't joking, there is no reason for it to be impossible with MT, surely there is just a microswitch on the clutch pedal somewhere which could be made into a permanent circuit...Or an electro-mechanical leg that pushes the clutch pedal in.

Just dont leave the car in gear or it might hop its way into your garage wall.

You can always bypass that. I do agree that getting into a warm/cold car in winter/summer is great. The only problem is that you don't even realize when the fuel economy goes deeply down (Just for using it a couple of minutes).

+1...MT cars can be bypassed, but never never leave it in gear, back when I was in school my college roommate worked for Circuit City and his "boy" from the install center bypassed his 328i MT for autostart...I got mine done also but I had a automatic in my 323i...I sold that car and I no longer use autostart since I park it in my garage...

I wish push button start could be possible with a MT.

It doesn't matter if its 6MT or auto. It's the same thing you need bypass the pedal thing. in the 6MT you need to bypass the clutch in an auto you need to bypass the pressing the brakes thing. One is a little more complicated than the other but not impossible. It's easier for the Auto because its more like a software rather than hardware. I'm not quiet sure how it is for 6MT

sounds dangerous to put in 6MT.... who's going to take responsibility if some jerk leaves their car in gear and remote starts it?
