Yes that is true that we are talking about straight-line performance because it is one aspect of the M3's well rounded track performance.

Oh yeah I forgot to include other great things about the M3 other than straight-line performance, The M3 also pulls .98gs around the skidpad and does a slalom at 71.4 mph.

Great, for 2 laps you will have lots of fun! And oh, btw...no dry sump lubrication so I'd be pretty careful about going through too many slaloms at once...

The M3 is a great street car and offers great number for a few minutes for a 4-5 seater. I'll even say the Sedan offers something the competition does not, and thus furthers BMW's reputation as the world's best sport sedan company. But as a track oriented coupe, it's no better than 3rd in my book for the money, and when barely used CPO's comes into the equation, just not a competitor for my money. But the M3 should not feel bad, the M6 fits the exact same mold.
