Premium Sound

Okay... so I'm "pretty sure" I've read every post on this and all I can find that $1900 buys you 6 more speakers, better amps/speakers, different grills, and thats it.

Anyone have any makes and model numbers for base/premium or anything else factual other than, more/better/louder/cleaner. Any REAL details, rms power, handling power, speaker configuration, different head unit more funtionality?

Also, I will take this time to rant about HD radio NOT being included in Premium Sound, unless I missed something. $350 for HD radio!! I have it now, its great to have all the extra channels, there's always something on. I can't vouch for the quality cause its in a crappy system right now.

Any help would be appreciated.

DIRAC is an integral part of the Premium Sound package, not an add-on per se.

I never thought to search an M5 board for M3 info, good find.

However, that link is pretty much about DIRAC, which is awesome technology in itself, but as rvacha noted, its only a part of it.

So I take it that Individual High End Audio = Enhanced Premium Sound?

Also, in that video I count 13 speakers
1 center (front)
8 Front and rear High/Lows L/R
2 subs under the front seats
2 mids in the rear sides

There's supposed to be 16 right?

Still can't find anything re Amps/Speaker RMS power, Head Unit functionality, etc. If Premium Sound requires Nav or the Premium package, what does it use it for, just the computer?

The DIRAC settings can only be adjusted on the iDrive display, so that's why iDrive is required.

Central and passenger's speakers are coaxial...hence 3 more

Here's the schema from the BMW Individual catalog:
