This is why BMW does not have to worry about Lexus...

Brand new LS460 was just released...coincidentally brand new camry was also released:

Man, it really must make lexus drivers feel  when they see somebody drive past in a toyota, "yea, see the extra 20 grand was for..."

You would think toyota would go the extra mile to make the lexus buyers feel warm and fuzzy, maybe the lexus drivers don't care, I would. I'm vain.

Nevermind they share the same frame and most parts, aleast look different.

Lexus is lost. Once they copied MB. Now they copy BMW. And wait wait wait, are they copying their own econobox brand?

Yes. VW does the same shit to Audi drivers. Even though the Passat and A4 are now on completely different platforms, they are releasing technology in the Passat before the A4. This certainly helped me make the switch from the A4...

Why didn't MB sue or bitch somewhat about the design copying?

Is there a way to complain or something against this crap?

Doesn't mean they can't change their ways and do something good IMHO for lexus drivers, but I suppose Toyota knows best...

I think that MB doesn't really want to acknowledge the fact that somebody would even compare the 2 brands. They want their buyers to feel above all that japanese bullcrap.

it's cool for Toyota cars to look like Lexuses. IT's GAY for LExuses to look like TOyota. I dont know I know they always look alike but come on, it's ridiculous to make identical cars...

Where's my link?

Going over to that forum and looking for that thread would defy the rules of laziness.

Well I went and found the thread and laughed myself silly. Did anyone follow that link to the design rationale?? What a whole load of shit basically - they aren't sitting there designing with rice paper and bloody kuniform pens like you claim buddy (though it would explain why they don't have time to make the Camry look different...)

Dress it up and call it anything you like - L-Finesse (Hell-Finesse to me) does not float my boat. I know others like it, but the designs do not sit well to my eye. I got a second oppinion from a designer I respect last night after discussing the LS' hoffmeister kick in another thread, and she agreed that it is a plain mess. Like I have thought, she also said that the straight edges and lines don't mate harmoniously with the organic curves that remain, they seem at wrong angles, or to overshoot their mark...

I think it is commendable that Toyota are trying to develop a design language rather than the haphazzard stuff they trotted out before, but what I will say is: Good prototype, now go make it work harmoniously.
