U.S. seats: will they be the same as the Euro seats?

I've mentioned this in a few other threads, but I don't think we've come to a consensus yet. In pictures from the recent press event and the Detroit Auto Show, we see that the bottom portion of the seats in the U.S. M3s are identical to those found in the regular E92 coupe. On the other hand, the M3 configurator now up on BMWUSA.com shows the Euro version of the bottom portion of the seat with the line down the center + more pronounced side bolsters. Has anyone read or heard anything about the U.S. getting different seats?

From the press event and DAS:

Someone posted a few pics recently from a U.S delivery that showed the same "lines" as the Euro seats.

It doesn't look like a split arm rest. Say it's not so.

Yeah but then the sedans next to that convert lacked the line down the center.

Here's the consensus as found in the aftersales training pdf (p.39):

"In order to provide an enhanced sporting
character and more hold, the seat cushions
and backrests in European vehicles have been
further developed. In US vehicles, only the
front seat backrests have been revised. The
seat upholstery installed in US vehicles is the
same as that used on the E92 series-model
sport seat."

Best regards, south

That's lame....why hasn't BMW chose to be consistent on this?

I don't know about the seats but I hate the looks of that split armrest. I wish it were optional. I may opt to retrofit a solid one piece version. I don't know what it is, I just think it's goofy to split it in half. Looks like an ass crack.

This is a topic that I have been running around on. From some of the pictures of delivered M3's that I have seen tested in the states I have seen some with the split and some without. I am not sure if in fact we will have the splits or not (if not I will have it custom made or order it from Europe)

Wrong Answer. The "fatass" theory doesn't apply here.

The shipment of cars pictured were all in the U.S. The red vert had them, and the other cars did not seem to.

remember what Xcellere wrote?

Wonder how much it is to get the seat bottoms from Europe.

Here is a quote from the BMW Aftersales Training Product information.

As you can see it states we get the special ME back rests but the same seat cushion as the regular M92 coupe.

"In order to provide an enhanced sporting charactor and more hold, the seat cushions and back rests in European vehicles have been further developed, In the United States, only the front seat back rests have been revised."

Am I the only one really pissed about this? I weigh 150 pounds and I'm really skinny. I see no reason for them not to give us the Euro seat, unless they really think Americans are all fat (which most are so who am I kidding).

Some people have their stomachs stamped for lose weight. Therefore, you should have yours stretched/enlarged!

Actually, I'm skinny, too. Don't worry about it. It'll be to your advantage once you go past 30...

Drink a few six packs of german beer a week and I promise you'll gain weight.

I don't gain weight either, unless I do the above (usually over the winter months ).
