Don't laugh..they sell them in Australia..and the last Generation Holden waxed and M5......for about 40,000 less......and the new generation uses a detuned Vette engine..do not snicker to loudly

Its actually not really "a Pontiac", but a Holden Commodore which is built here in Australia.

The E39 M5..had it's ass handed toit the Monaro...I remember it because I was in PErth and the Mg came out and thats why Bob lutz suddelny got a hard on for Holden products.........and the holden was about 30,000 cheaper...V8 vs V8

Even though I'm a BImmer owner..tell ya what that CTS sure makes me go hmmmmm........I'd take a chance.......Caddilac has come a long way in short time...

GM's plan of keeping costs down, using one engine for many platforms. Good engine but don't like what surrounds it, but a lot of people I'm sure will turn that into a 1/4 mile beast.

I have driven the CTS-V and the pontiac GTO - both claimed to shame the germans. I was not impressed at all with either.

My dad went from an E46 to a CTS in 2004. His classic line "that car was the biggest piece of shit I have ever owned."

He now has an M coupe, and all is right with the world.

And I can verify, the CTS was the biggest waste of about $43K I can think of.

I've taken a CTSV and a GTO out in my E46M3, not impressed. Now if were talking LS3 Corvette, or 2009 Camaro; they both have my respect. Im on the waiting for a 2009 Camaro.

THE prospects of a Holden Monaro entering a new generation via the awesome Coupe 60 concept now rests on the Australian manufacturer securing an export deal.

GM Holden’s new managing director Mark Reuss told GoAuto at the Melbourne International Motor Show last week that if the Coupe 60 was to be put into production, a substantial amount of its projected sales volumes would have to come from overseas.

“It would need to have a healthy export volume somewhere; I mean, 50 per cent of our volume right now is export,” Mr Reuss said.

“To keep the business viable and to keep Holden sustained with manufacturing, we want to export, that is part of it.”

Holden will have its first chance to gather support for a Coupe 60 project at a General Motors internal conference in Orlando, US, next month, where the vehicle’s future as a new member of the Pontiac stable will be high on the agenda.

Sit in a Holden/Pontiac and you are very, very quickly aware that these cars are in a totally different league to a BMW, and not in a good way.

You are greeted with 'tinny' doors, relatively poor fitting and definitely lower quality brittle plastics. Just look underneath and compare the build quality and materials used through the chassis/suspension.

They are very well priced cars, but not comparable to an M car...M cars are more than 0-100kph and 0-400m times...

Well I was talking about the performance of the g8 gxp vs the M. The interior and fit and finish of g8 vs M is not even close but shouldn't be for that price.

Having said that the M's interior is boring without I-drive.I'm pretty disappointed that its not more modern.Whats with the speakers in the doors,plastic pedals? I do like a V8 that pulls all the way to 8400rpm though.

I'd still take a RS5 over it.

I just don't get this. The emphasis is on ergonomics and functionality, not fanboi flare pieces. I appreciate the M3 interior, without the Nav hump especially. I'm glad it doesn't resemble a fighter jet.
