I think we'll see the E92 M3 CSL in a couple of years... just hope they won't overpriced it like they did with the E46 CSL.

Yep, hope they come out with it sooner that two years!!! CLS should be a nice improvement! How much more expensive was the CLS from the regular M3?

The E46 M3 was listed at 40k Pounds in UK, and the E46 M3 CSL went for 58k Pounds. That's almost 50% more .

Ufff!!! UK prices are very similar to those in Mexico, so the CSL here should be very expensive as well. My road will be to add a Mosselmann S/C or turbo in a few months and add other suspension etc... improvements that should yield better performance than the upcoming CSL.

I hope to see the new E92 M3 CSL priced in line with the way Porsche does. The 997 Carrera S goes for 65k Pounds and the 997 GT3 at 75k, which is about 15% more. So, here's hoping to see the new CSL at around 58k Pounds.

I hope that is the case and makes sense to price within Porsche territory. What sorts of things did the prior CLS improve other that a few CF items and a bit more power? Were these all things (or mostly) that you could not add to an M3?

Actually the list was quite comprehensive on the E46 CSL

CF front bumper/spoiler
CF front spoiler extension
CF bootlid spoiler
CF roof
Thermoplastic honeycomb boot floor
Composite rear bulkhead
Thinner rear glass screen
Aluminium alloy wheels
CF internal door panels
GRP racing seats
CF airbox with air ram
Upgraded brakes
Revised ECU
Upgraded SMG software
Race style Alpha N system air/fuel sensor
Semi Heim jointed suspension
Revised suspension geometry with 12mm lower front ride height and lighter lower arms

Nice, very nice indeed! Those are a comprehensive list and there are a few that are impossible to install afterwords. Seems like well worth the $$$$ difference of say 15% to 20%.

It's not about what to add, it's about what to subtract. The CSL was considerably lighter then the stock E46. Almost no soundproofing, extensive use of CF, racing seats, cardboard trunk floor, a little more HP, suspension upgrade, light weight wheels and a few other things.

Agree with you 100%!! I just meant “add on” in a very general sense. Lighter, leaner, stiffer is always meaner!!!!

The 997 GT3 did something similar (with less CF application), but with a much more exotic race-derived engine for a 15% increase in price... albeit many of the additionals are pricey options. I hope the price of the new CSL won't go through the roof this time.

I hope so as well!! Let´s see what BMW comes up with, but given the very special nature of the current E92 M3, the CLS version will have to be very creative indeed.

Hahaha!!! Maybe the CLS, but this baby uses race fuel with much higher octane ratings so that at the very least, firing order, fuel delivery and ECU are programmed to deliver an even higher compression ratio/RPM cut off range to produce the 485 bhp!!! I say as at the very least since it is possible that it has stronger internals as well, don’t know the rules of this race series yet.
