Max tire width for the e92 M3?

Does anyone know what the max tire width would be for e92 M3? I'm looking to get some 20inch AC Schnitzers that use to be on a M6 and would liek to see if the tires that are on the rims will still fit the M3.

max rim size on the front is 9x20 with a 15mm spacer

max tire size front 245/30 ZR20 or 245/35 ZR20

max rim size on the rear 10.5 with a 5mm spacer

max tire size 305/25 ZR20

I plan to do this to my M3 when I get it

10.5 would fit without bulging out?

Man, I would never buy wheels that required spacers to fit right. That shows the wheels are not a proper fit for the car without compromises.

This Is What Hamann Did To The Rims You See On The Car In The Picture. If You Want To Put On The Max Size And Every Thing. I Was Just Trying To Answer Jinxter Questions. I'm Sure You Can Get Some Custom Rims To Fit This Car Without Some Type Of Spacer. You Don't Have To Put Hamann Rims On Your Car. You Just Have To Search And Find A Brand Of Rim You Like In The Sizes I Said 9 X 20 FRONT And 10.5 X 20 Make Sure The Rims Are Made To Fit The Car, If You Don't Want To Worry About Putting On Spacers. IF YOU ARE WORRIED ABOUT THE RIM AND TIRE SITTING OUT THEN JUST GO 10 X 20 TO BE ON THE SAFE SIDE. WHEN I GET MY M3 IN APRIL / MAY I WILL POST SOME PICS WITH THE MAX SIZES.

No. Wheels designed for the car have the right offset. Spacers, even good hub centric ones, reduce strength somewhat, add weight and require over length lug bolts. Just kind of mickey-mouse.

I'm guessing 265F & 285R will be easily possible with the right offset wheels. You can even do that on the E46. Some ran 265 x 4 on the E46 to get rid of the inherent understeer. That is not as much of a problem with the E92, so a staggered setup should be fine.

A 10.5 inch rear wheel is only 1" wider than stock. That doesn't seem like a big change.

Is anyone really sure that spacers etc… reduce strength. I´ve track driven my M3 (and other cars) very harshly before and after OE wheel/tire mods and feel that the car does handle a bit better with the after-market array. About the strength etc… all these things (i.e., spacers, lugs, wheels) are TUV approved and so on and so forth that means that they must handle punishment well beyond the physical limits of any vehicle. Recall that Mercedes-Benz tuner Brabus builds 700+ hp twin turbo V12 that have the world speed record for a sedan and these cars do that with Brabus wheels, spacers, etc

I know many BMW CCA club racers that use spacers on the track every weekend. I've never heard of a problem related to the use of spacers.

In principal Greg is right the length of the spacer, more joints, longer bolts, etc. all definitely add up to less strength. There can be no argument on this. Is it enough of a reduction to actually affect safety or increase the liklihood of failure - almost for sure not. However, like he said - there is clearly no substitute for doing things right; minimizing excess parts/weight/material and for having items built for your car.
