I thought it was called Alcantara....and it was made of alcantara. I could be wrong.

Its made of cloth just like the headliner on most other BMWs (including the 3 series, 5 series, etc.), and most other cars in general for that matter. Anthracite is just BMW's word for a charcoal-like hue.

yes, go find a X5 with it and look, there is the anthracite, it jsut means its not grey. and trust me you want that.

there is also alcantara on the m5 and m6 which is Suede and frikin awsome, I wish that is waht you could get on the M3.

Shame that's not alcantara. I love that thing.

So is this material actually good? easy to clean? Photos?

Why would the interior roof be getting dirty anyway?

In all my time owning cars, I've never had to clean the interior roof.

light grey roofs get dirty with time, specially if you drive with the windows down.

Especially if you blow your brains out when your fuel pump fails

I'd pay a premium for an alcantara headliner. They are so tits money.

Believe it or not, the roof lining in my current E46 was somewhat stained (with what looks like grease) during service at a BMW dealer. I didn't notice it in time. By the time I saw it, it's already been a week and I couldn't prove that they had done it (I sure didn't smear grease around the interior).

the antracite is the same material as the regular, Its jsut black, and its easy to clean.. unless you have a white German Shepard that leaves his hair in it, now that a pita to get out.
on another note yes alcantara is sweet, its almost making me get a M5 instead of the M3. waaahhh.

Please do Ep. I tried in Detroit but the friggin fluorescent lights they mounted in the car made it impossible, at least with my novice photography skills. It just came out loking like a big gray splotch. Maybe you'll have better luck.

Maybe it's posible to upgrade the roof-liner by installing alcantara (as an after-market thing). The only problem might be the airbags.... but if it's not that expensive, I would do it. Alcantara is really nice.

The BMW Individual allows you to get Alcantra headliner.
