Many NA BMW engines with GruppeM or similar intakes without any exhaust modifications result in a fantastic noise.

The old Z3M's sound amazing with GruppeM intakes.

If the E39 M5 is anything to go by in terms of how it sounds with GruppeM intakes alone then I can guarantee you alot of E9x M3 owners will be going down this route.

GruppeM know what they are doing, some of the stuff they make is just pure porn and according to many controlled tests on dyno's, they do actually add to the power.

Thanks
Sal

Noise? When I was growing up, we used to tear up plastic bottles, mount one end on the frame, and stick the other in the rear wheel. Boy, did that make it sound like a motorcycle! My point being, if you are simply interested in noise, as in noise made my resonating parts, there are cheaper ways of accomplishing that--without the use of CF.

Now, I know nothing about this CF intake box, and am curious, so I will look into it. However, unless it results in better flow and helps the engine breath better, I don’t see how there can be any performance gains. And if there are no performance gains, I’d rather spend my money on something else…

"Ramming" air into the engine by placing a front facing intake with appropriate geometry in the bumper (the GruppeM product seems to do that) is possible, but that will only be significant at high speeds. The ECU, based on air flow meter data, might be able to adjust the air/fuel mixture to a degree for the increased air pressure so that you end up burning more fuel than the stock scenario. However, such a product does not need to be made from CF. Also, I wonder about what else a front facing intake in the bumper would pick up other than just air, and what that would do to your air filter and engine warranty.

Dinan has a similar product for the E90/92 328.

Actually freer flowing intakes and exhuast improve MPG...just FYI

This car had only changed the intake. This is exactly how my old Z4M sounded. It also accelerated better and the intake did not influence the fuel consumption one bit.

I dont know why i am trying to persuade about one of these...if you ever had one you would know that they are worth the money.

Wow I sure miss the sound of my old S54. Nice vid.

It sounds amazing, but I'm not exactly sure how much benefit a CAI would be on a naturally aspirated car. In 335i or some supercharged setup I could see myself dropping alot on an intake, but with this, I think money maybe better spent elsewhere. I'll probably end up buying one though just to be loud.

What ever happened to the $500 carbon fiber intake M3's use to have available!!! Has all that much really changed since the e36 M3. ok ya a little less carbon fiber but I don't think its $1500 + difference.
