I think this country is going down and fast. The dollar is worthless, and everyone wants more laws for this and that.

The best years for the United States are yet ahead of us. Probably it will be better in 10 to 15 years than it is now. Or it could go downhill before it gets better. The outcome of this year's election will play a role, but not the greatest role.

no, definitely not the third country or close.
However, the world will be more balanced with more powers...which can lead (fall back) to the cold war type years...

every election would play role, however, the effects of this admin will be felt around then -- definitely much worse than...lets say in 1999...

The dollar is worthless compared to 5 yrs ago.....so what? Your xbox and PS3 cost more now? At this point in the current economic state, if the dollar were as strong as it was 5 yrs ago, we'd be screwed. And the weak dollar didn't lead us to where we are today, it's a result of where we are. Unrelenting greed and consumerism on the part of the american public led us here. A sense of entitlement among the general public, and a lack of financial intelligence and discipline in the general public led us here.

We'll get through it, and we'll be better and stronger than we were before. If the great depression didn't do us in, this sure as shit won't. Do you really beleive this is the worst crisis this country has ever faced?

Can you elaborate with detail and define the "decline of our country"?

Our economy carried the world through most of the 21st century so far. It's due for a rest, as it must, while the pendulum shifts and the world strives for balance. Then the whole cycle starts over again.

The difference between rich and poor is the ability to discern these cycles and act accordingly.

Over what??? Keeping the zipper open and lying to public and wife about that?
The current one lied about the clear knowledge of the WMD, then he distroyed the country, directly responsible for 5000 of our soldier deaths and hundreds of thousands Iraqi deaths.
This one should have been in war crimes tribunal, not only impeached...

WHat is load of crap:
- non-existent WMD (lied to us all with PPT presentations and "facts" that there are the WMD)
- 5000 soldiers dead
- hundreds of thousands Iraquis dead
- Destroyed country (Iraq)
- Wasted trillions for Homeland Security, Wars...
- None of the real issues solved -- education, soc security, healthcare...
- lost respect in the World
I could go on and on...

What is not true there???

not likely

with all the resources here. i don't think so. unless the education system goes south specially at the universities level. The only truely advanced industry/technology in the states is the military one. we must be able to compete in other fields as well. One more thing, work ethics and morality are deteriorating fast and that is scary and very typical of currently third world countries. that is just my opinion

I mean our look at society as a whole. Corruption in our government, families without values, people who rather collect a check from the gov. than going out and working, banks + interest rates right now, big box mart..., housing market, healthcare, etc etc.

I clearly understand where you are coming from, but I think there is a little too much wrong in our country now. Dare I say, the days of conservative America were better? I am 19 right now, and ever since middle school, I wanted to do something in finance. Now that I am beginning to take my upper level courses, I feel concerned that there won't be a job out there for me, and even if I get that job will it be good enough for me to succeed in life.

Every generation of people were "better off" than the previous. But I don't think majority of my generation will make it.

Funny how FirstClass never came back to defend himself. Probably cause he knows he has no idea what he's talking about.

Bush is in the top 5 for worst Presidents of all time. He's garbage and thanks to all of you who decided to vote for him again. Look at the U.S. right now. Chaos.
