I love intakes

Finally got the complete engine bay look with a full CF intake. No power gains (confirmed by data logging, but no losses either). The sound, however is incredible, like an S65 CSL. The noise from the cockpit is as good as a Ferrari! Enjoy

Not my thing but this cf configuration is suppose to make an M3 sound like a Ferrari? 😏

From the inside, NOT from the outside. No intake/catless setup will sound like a Ferrari from the outside.

Thx, it was, but I get a huge amount of enjoyment from enhancing the sound from the cockpit. cost/benefit for most people will be quite steep and probably not worth it vs almost any other mod you can do. Get a Dinan elbow and you're 40% there sound wise. Plenum is another 50%, rest is 10% and eye candy.

The plenum mod actually enhances the sound? I wouldn't have thought that...

Definitely, but only at WOT and and high RPMs. Just cruising around, would say only about 15% louder.

My experience with underhood carbon fiber is that is takes on a very greenish-yellow color after a while due to the heat. Hope this doesn't happen here. Looks like big $$$$.

Yes, some of the used parts that I bought, namely the covers (from Technocraft) are beginning to yellow a bit. Think the Dinan Elbow and Goke CarbonTechnic (which primarily does this for racing applications) pieces are extremely high quality with very thick clearcoat and show no signs of this, in spite of tracking and a lot of spirited runs in twistys and high elevation changes (where temps get higher than the track).

Hahaha one of these days I'll have someone film a WOT drive-by. In the meantime, this is a low quality clip from the maker of the air box:

Wow... Good to know...

I really dig the WOT intake sound, so I may do this now (even though no performance gain). Does anyone make a non-CF piece w/ lower price point, as I'm sure that thing cost a mint.

Thx

Not that I know of. Technocraft makes an CF intake plenum cover, have seen them $700-$800 used, $1100 new, probably the cheapest one out there and replaces the top of the stock plenum. Once you go to Germany or the UK to source these, you're talking $1,800-$2,300 has increased in recent years due to currency. Also the Euro ones come with the stock base (which needs a a core plenum, costing $800)

That Goke clip is terrible but man it sounds good. I prefer induction noise vs exhaust for sure. Loud exhausts just attract cops.

Nice mods!

Nearly got me one but realised it was vendor wanted several thousand euros for just the top half plenum. The bottom half is OEM.
