Reflector

LA auto show M3 and BMW USA M3 have reflector in different places. Why and which is it gonna be?

I noticed the same thing a while ago. I'd be really happy if it was the one on the website, but being that's been there for a while, I now doubt it.

I also prefer the website design with the reflector on the rim of the wheel-well. However I believe the latter is the style that will be put into production.

it looks like you can probably pull it off like the one on the e46 and just replace it with a painted one.

i think its just sticky, no need to replace it...there should be paint underneath. anyway, i think we are getting the ones shown at the auto show.

Not sure if it was the case this time but a possible explanation for differences would be the asterisk and/or fine print on some brochures and web pages that say something like "european model shown".

If it is like the M5, it will be on the bumper and it isn't just stuck on. You would have to pop it out and either replace it or paint it.

It doesn't bother me as much as it did initially. I have since moved on to that unavoidable eyesore on top of the roof.

Correct, it's for navigation.

That is the way it used to be and should be now, BUT IT ISN'T. The way I understand it, you can't avoid it anymore as they put them on every M3 as standard equipment and that is a tragedy. I do not like it, and what's worse - it will be doing nothing but looking stupid on my car because I'm not getting any of the options that would require it for functionality.

I wonder how much money BMW will save by just putting them on every M3 they make? It might just save me $60k.

I think the US regulations for a public road-allowed car is ridiculous and it screws up the whole car. The one good thing is your license plates which you can put in a matching frame. Although I have really no idea what kind of frame you should use for a M3 :P

Also, you're not required to have a license plate in the front which is somewhat good I think.

The key issue, which I don't think any of us knows for sure, is whether there are any mechanical attachment (holes in the valance). It looks like they may just be adhered like the rear badge, but until someone looks at the rear of the valance it's not for sure.

But I'm thinking... The M3 logo at the back end is just a sticker if I'm correct? Why would they drill those ugly-looking yellow reflects (IMO) stuck? Since they are less important Am I right? Haha

Like the E46 they're probably snap on. You had to take a screw driver or something like that to pry them out.

The M3 logo is a chrome plastic piece.

Recent EU regs and forthcoming ones have ruined cars FAR more than the US ones.
