I still don't know where this mysterious elf house where your key may be. How does it go into an air vent?

If he has comfort access I'd be careful where he parks his car. Any old fool can walk up, open the door start it,and take that baby for a nice old spin around the town ;-)

My car does not have comfort access.

So heres where i am at - theres no way im getting it from inside the air vent with a grabber - i tried.

So as im moving the seat up and down and using the grabber in the air vent with no luck i seem to have f'd up something else now....

Pass. restraint malfunction shows up when i turn the car on now =\

i give up, im just going to take this pos to the dealer and have them rape me for lord knows how much, im not even under warranty anymore.

Lost key end of story, whatever...im so frustrated right now that i cant even think straight.

There are shops in Miami that would probably be kind enough to pull the error code(s). That might give you an idea of what tossed the fault. Just a guess that moving the seat around and fiddling around underneath it has buggered up one of the connections or just wiggled a connection or a wire loose so a sensor has thrown a fault. Just take a glance around to see if anything looks out of place.
If the car frustrates you too much I'll be more than happy to take it off your hands and park it in my garage. I need a new weekend toy.
Cheers.

Too friggin funny. You might not think it's funny now, but 2 years later you will. Reminds me of when my thermostat wire fell in the wall when installing the nest in Chicago during the polar vortex. My wife was not too amused. She was the one who fished out the wire with a totally rigged up coat hanger (after I could not), but in the process f'd up the wire. Long story short, new wires. Cold. Keep your sanity...you will laugh later.

Yeah I had no idea there was a vent under the seat. The only thing I've ever noticed was the subwoofer cover but I've never seen any openings.

I was assuming they were talking about the vents at the back of the center console armrest (vents for the rear seat passengers)?

I guess there's an air vent on the other side of the First Aid kit that's installed with the E93 M3. I gave it a slight pull to see if it would pop-out, but nope. Not gonna mess with it. LOL.

When one wants a cabriolet, is there really any other choice than an M3? No. No, there's not.

Get in the back seat and look from there. You should see an air vent. This is a common problem that has happened since the E46's. The fun way to dislodge the fob or cell phone is to just do some quick launches in the car and turn the car abruptly to force it out.

why is there a first aid kit for the E93? Is it for issues with bodily harm during top down motoring?

Yeah, 'vert owners tend to be free-spirited sorts that are a danger to themselves.

Coupes have the first aid kit stored in the trunk over the tool kit area on the right side. It's often missing if you are not the original owner (big surprise).

my M3 sedan doesn't have a first aid kit. maybe for those few M3 owners who have friends and family to transport, we have a lot of support from others in case of medical emergencies.

There are also some pretty affordable flexible fiberoptic devices these days. You might be able to pick one up so that you can SEE the key fob to figure out how to grab it.

I know what you're talking about. I had a quarter fall down there and couldn't figure out how to get it out. Fortunately it appears to have lodged itself somewhere so the sound of it sliding around has vanished.
