Test pipes installed... tune will be soon as well
Hi all,
yesterday I had the exhaust guys fab up some test pipes to remove the primary cats. cheapest quotes I was getting to buy some aftermarket test pipes would be around $500-$550 delivered to Perth. this cost me $200. initial thoughts: - louder at cold start (I have a remus street muffler) - when warm, no noticeable difference in noise up to about 3000 or so. - around 3500rpm onwards there s some rasp that wasn't there before. its definitely not too raspy (im guessing if I had a 'race' type exhaust it would be much louder). I like it as its turned out! - car has gained power...especially mid range. exiting a corner in 3rd gear it definitely starts to pick up sooner than before. - I can also feel and hear the extra air pushed out where cats used to be...its a bit of a weird sensation. I thought it was some kind of vibration to start of with but cant see anything touching. TUNE: ended up buying the Evolve tune. chose them basically as they seem the be spending a lot of money and time into producing parts for M cars.. (plus some discount as I had their tune on E46 M3 before). -the tune/cable was paid for around Thursday, I had the evolve r cable in my hands on Monday morning - I have sent of my stock map to them, waiting to get tune back. - will not touch stock rev limiter or speed limiter. - don't want servotronic tuned as I like the light steering feel when not in M mode. - got a cool option 'overrun back fire' (google if you don't know it) but not sure if ill run with it. anyways, gonna do a dyno soon to see gains with these mods from stock car |

Done a few little mods to the car, as its becoming a weekender. (bought a 325ti for daily duties)
Had some De Cat pipes made to remove Primary cats (secondary cats are still in place). Also bought a Tune from the guys at Evolve Automotive. Dyno showing Stock (Red Line) Vs De cat + Tune (Blue Line) Basically around 20 wheel hp PEAK gain. Mid Range (4000rpm or so) i have gained around 30 wheel hp. that is a HUGE gain and massive benefit in feel of the car. it has also given the exhaust (Remus) louder note and more of a 'bite'. Loving it! massive thanks to the guys at Evolve on the prompt service as usual!! |

Nice work.
Hyperdrives dyno is notorious for reading low to, my Skyline did 380hp on there's then 420hp on another.
