Cold start pop
Never fails, every time I start my car (cold start in the morning) I let it warm up letting the revs settle then I drive and from 1st to 2nd I hear an extremely loud pop. Could it be shooting a flame? I have a cat-less exhaust. Thanks guys!

I'm hoping it is lol. But weirdly even when I'm driving the car hard and flying through the gears I don't get that same pop. I didn't understand why it's happening the car is still kinda cold

Yea on a cold start it'll actually pop out little flames. They never exit the tips and you can't really see them, but I had a friend drive behind me one night and he said he could see little blue flames off throttle and sometimes when I shifted. Only when car is cold, or REALLY REALLY hot lol
Makes me happy

This is opinion not science:
Cats usually remove hydrocarbons and other non-combusted material. When the engine is cold most cars run a warm-up program (rich fuel mixture). I'm guessing you have unburnt fuel entering the hot exhaust and that's where you get the pop (or flames in some case). This is only a guess but would love to hear someone with knowledge confirm or deny. |

Mine does this also with challenge sport. My mustang also will throw flames. Kinda cool.

Mine will actually pop both when it's a cold start and after a normal start. If I cruise up to about 4000 RPMs, let go of the accelerator, and lightly tap the accelerator again at about 2500 RPMs, I get a really loud pop. Its especially fun in second gear cruising around campus haha. And have the Fabspeed maxflo exhaust.

Cold starts will be richer, so there will be more fuel there.
