Wheel & Tire Insurance

How much are you guys paying for the BMW wheel and tire insurance now? I've read that some people have paid $1500 for 5 years. My dealership is saying there's no way that's possible and this "forum" is not something he could use to give me that price.

I highly doubt it. I'm not positive, but I don't think it is an actual BMW insurance, just something most dealerships offer. If you bought it from my dealer, you'd probably have to get the repairs done there.

$2200 for 3years is WAY overpriced. I'm surprised they won't haggle with you at all on it

I bought mine from my dealership for $1,000 for five years.

It has already paid for itself. I've gotten a nail in three tires so far.

My wife put her foot down for tire/wheel insurance for her 2012 X3 and
it cost us $1200 for 5 years. (peace of mind at last)

My 328 had THREE tires replaced in two years. Two tires (new) have
sidewall bubles again. Not going to pay for more tires unless ...

I will definitely get it for my M3.

Insurance is only meant to cover situations with major financial consequences.

If you just get a checking account, put any money you'd ever spend on insurances like these (new washer/dryer, tires, TV's, etc...) and let it earn interest and use it to fund replacements/repairs that are supposedly covered, you'll come out ahead over your lifetime, actually WAY ahead! We did work for one of the companies that sell consumer electronics insurance, they were printing money.

Don't do it! Total waste of money...

Couldn't disagree more. My insurance cost was $1,000. In two years, I've spent about $1,250 (3 tires) in tires, fully reimbursed by the insurance. No premiums, just the one time fee. I would need a return of almost 12.5% (obviously changes after the first) for two straight years for your "save your money" theory to work. Find me a 100% safe investment like that.

You're comparing it over only 2 years which not what i said. So you buy 10 cars over 40 years, you really think you'll have $10k in tire issues? For everyone like you the insurance company lost money on, there are 3 they made money on. That's how the industry works. You need to adjust your timeline when you look at it this way. There will also be a small percentage of people where this does not hold out for. There are also small percentages of people who are hit by lightening or win the lottery, math and statistics are crazy that way...

I see a lot of cliam here....maybe thats why the price is higher?!? Plus many big store re-insure there products, which means if they replace your tire it cost the dealership money. And if you replace 3 tires and it exceeds the cost of the original plan....well they lose money. Think about it.

I have to somewhat disagree regardless of what the stats say. My first car in 1991 was an Eagle Talon TSI turbo AWD.....For a HS kid, this was big pimpin back then. I had the extended warranty and pretty much though a newer car had to replace so many things. I have American Home Shield on my house and it's expensive 700/yr, but to date, just some big things I've had replaced....Pool heater, twice, one heating unit, 2 sump pumps, minor plumbing issue, dishwasher repair, dryer repair.....It paid itself off in my case. I'm on the fence about the wheel/tire insurance.
