Article: Cars that make Detroit worth saving. Any of them worth it?

Found this article on MSN this morning, I apologize if it's been posted already:

Basically, these are, in the writer's opinion, the 11 cars that make the auto bailout a good idea and worth saving Detroit:

Cadillac CTS
Chevrolet Corvette
Chevrolet Malibu
Chrysler Town & Country
Dodge Challenger
Ford Escape Hybrid
Ford F-150
Ford Flex
Ford Fusion Hybrd
GMC Acadia
Pontiac G8


I've never personally driven any of these cars, so I cannot attest to their performance or build quality. I've only ever driven European cars (first a Volvo, then an Audi, and then 2 Bimmers - currently drive an '09 E90 335i).

What are your thoughts on this list?

Funny you mentioned this article. I just read it. I crossed out the ones I'd never consider. These ones are nice and prove that GM deserves another chance. Ford and chrysler can die for all I care.

Why are magazines touting that the Flex will save Ford?

HAVE THEY SEEN THE FLEX?! That is by far the ugliest car I have seen in a while.

Seeing Ford and other US automakers make such piss poor cars makes it really difficult for me to feel sorry for them.

I'd have to agree with you here. We rented a Malibu once for a 700 mile trip once and to my surprise it was pretty solid.

the entire Buick lineup
Charger
GMCs

and last and most important Dump the UAW President along with Wagner

The Saturn Vue, and aura sell well also...

theres a huge market for the Saturn Vue.

The Corvette and CTS (V) are world beaters and you say "NO". Sounds like GM just needs to change their logo to a blue, white and black propeller then you'd be much more impressed with those two cars.

The CTS and the Vett arent bad, and the F150 is a great work car. But wouldnt buy any of them. :/

You realize that Dodge is owned by Chrysler, right?

Ford is actually the only one of the big three that doesn't need a bailout. They've only asked for a credit line, but said they can get by without it. Alan Mullaly has recently come over from Boeing, and has been having no problem turning Ford around.

i think the escalade should be on the list. GM paid off all development costs after only 6 months from when the car hit dealers. and imo i think its purdee and i dont know about the rest of the country but here they are very common, at least 1/3 of all my neighboor's have one. (badge whores)
