I'm having trouble fitting the driver's side GP THunder 8500. The fitting turned anti-clockwise fine on the passenger side. But on the driver's side it only turns 30 degrees at most and is loose.
I understand that some of you had some success replacing the rubber grommets from the OEM's. But some of you had to bend the tabs - can you give me more information about that? How did you bend them? Towards the bulb, away from the bulb or in a completely different manner?? Help! Otherwise I hope that ElectronicWoot accept a return of my GP Thunders!

I still havent put in my 7500s because I had such a nightmare with the fitment issue that I could barely put my stock bulb back on. The passenger side was impossible to budge so I left that lone.

I just tried switching the bulbs and the same bulb that didn't work on the drivers side doesn't work on the passengers side so it is the bulb that is a problem.
Will be returning these 8500's then...

Before I order, can anyone confirm these are the right versions of the GP Thunder 7500k's?
H8 - 35w H3 - 55w Also, wouldn't these 5800k bulbs be more of a white (brighter) color than the 7500k's? Not sure if the brand's any good but they're from the same distributors as the GP Thunders: ******************************/subcat.asp?c=XD5_5800k Thx!

changed my stock xenons (4300k) to 6000k and they now look awesome and match the 8500k GP Thunders nicely

+1 and nice and snug too. Wonder why some are having issues? You would think the housing is farily consistently manufactured. The bulb bases are standard too, so wonder why the bulbs are not fitting well? Hmm.

Yep, same here! Didn't have an issue at all. It's barely dimmer than stock bulbs but for $33 shipped I'm not complaining especially if it gets rid of the yellow oem look.

Sorry to Necro an old thread but I couldn't find any others and didn't want to start a new one. I just got a set of GP Thunders from JustPal on ebay. They are the new packaging, etc, but they both fit kinda crappy. Neither of them didn't fit, but both were loose. I tried swapping the rubber seals from the stock bulbs, but that didn't fix it. I ended up bending the tabs down with a set of channel locks, a little bend made both fit snuggly. Was a pain in the arse, though.

Now that somebody else unearthed this thread , has anybody tried these LED bulbs? They look just like the Japanese (Bellof?) a vendor here sells for $350 . Wonder what the difference is. Since they cost basically the same as GP Thunders, as long as they last the same amount of time (rather than a gazillion hours), I'd be fine. The only advantage over GP Thunders is they look white headlights on or off. And probably run cooler overall too. Comments welcome.

Reviving an old thread. Just tried to install some GP Thunder 8500 bulbs on my 2011.5. No go, I tried replacing the orange seals with the oem ones but that didn't help either. I got the passenger side in but I couldn't get the driver side to go in for the life of me. Spent a good hour trying to get it in too. Waste of 30 dollars.
My 335i I got them installed a few years ago.. wasn't easy back then either. Wish they had better fitment Also to note, even though the stock bulbs were yellower in color they were noticeably brighter. and when the headlights were turned on they were brighter then too. Both were the same color with the head lights on, but the stock bulb just burned brighter. So ill probably be sticking with the stock bulbs for now. |
