Talking My New Winter Ride

I've always had an SUV for the family and winter (live at 7 500 feet). Most recently though have little use for an SUV, children are grown up, and I very rarely have more than myself and one other in my vehicle. I love my 2011 M3, it's always been garaged and never used in Winter or in the snow, as a result, it is in pristine condition. After trading my X5, I tried to downsize, purchased a 535D xDrive, and while a stunningly competent vehicle, it simply felt like a large sedan, so I started a search for something as visceral as the M3, with AWD. Last Saturday my search ended, as I landed squarely on a 2014 911 C4S. The car is a riot, and with the sport exhaust noise, it just never gets old. Totally different proposition to the M3, not comparable in any way, but a tried and tested winter vehicle (Porsche sells 38% of all 911's in AWD form). The car is currently with my detailer getting a full paint correction, clear bra and the new Modesto coating. Attached is an image @ delivery.

Beautiful! Generally I profoundly dislike white cars, but your car looks fantastic. I had a 997.1 C4 and it was a great snow car with Dunlop Winter Sport M3 tires. As long as the ground clearance was ok, I never had the least bit of trouble through harsh NE conditions. Enjoy!

Super nice ! And great color too !

My winter car is my old 2002 IS 300 (which I bought new) - I hope to follow suit with what you did in a few years though,I always forget that Porsche has AWD - well done sir !

Cheers,
Merlin

Beautiful car! You'll have fun with that in the winter...a buddy of mine drives his 997 C2 year round in here in eastern Canada...no problem with a good set of winter tires...

So you're actually going to be driving it in the snow? Superb choice.

What a great looking car. You've got me thinking now....my winter ride is a Jeep Grand Cherokee. I love driving my M3 and would live something like that too!

Somehow I would be temped to just drive the M3 in the winter if that was parted next to it in my garage!

I have a 4.6is as a winter car but have been thinking of driving the E90M this winter!

Man, that's a heckuva winter runner. I never even drive my sports cars in the rain anymore. 'Course, it hasn't rained here in eight months but that's another story... There was a time when a 911 was my only car for about three years; it did get driven every day. I remember receiving some pretty strange looks loading up bags of concrete in it at the local hardware store.

Beautiful. PDK or stick?

Looks like you opted for the glass moonroof (given the painted roof) and it's tough to tell but the lip spoiler looks like maybe you also opted for SPASM.

I loved, loved, loved my 911s but did the opposite of you... I sold mine and bought an E90M3 when my son was born.

Many happy, safe miles. Keep the shiny side up!

Gorgeous! Nice pickup
I looked a a C4S before picking up my second E92 M3. Love the wider fenders on the 4S.
