The track closes down every year from late October to mid February. Starting mid February, the track gets very very busy and the climate in that area gets increasingly warm. The entire month of March is booked-out every year for the "March-Madness" events (not even one test n tune day is available let alone a private rental). Then in April they run their yearly tournaments but at least they do have a test-n-tune event taking place.... but the temps by then are already in the high 80s and low 90s. From mid May to end of September, the temps at the track average between 95 F to 105 F with a DA close to 3000 ft!!!! In October, temps begin to drop again but still not optimal, and then the track closes down for the public in November and that where we come in again.... basically to take advantage of the track at its coolest time

Because Sacramento is a 7+ hour drive for most SoCal guys, it's very hard to get enough people to do a full private rental. Also, even Sacramento in the summer is much warmer than it is in the winter so going for "optimal" and record-breaking runs become very difficult. To answer your question, we may attempt a mini-rental....

What is different about Sacramento is that their regular test-n-tune only sees 30 cars or so, which makes it ideal event to practice as opposed to 300 to 400 cars at Famoso or Fontana where you get 3 to 4 runs in an 8 hour span (assuming of course, no one breaks down).

I will probably attempt a private rental in February or March.... if I can't secure a big rental, I will try to at least put together a small one..... it just depends on how much interest to go up there. Just remember that anytime from March to September will still be warm even at Sacramento.

I'm also toying with the idea of doing another airport rental for some high speed runs

That all sounds awesome! Id love to go to a touring(not sure if thats the right term) track somewhere around here. Do some laps!

So is there a plan for meeting up in the morning on Sat? Same as last time? Can someone confirm where and when? My group didnt go up with the early group but we will be this time.

Thanks,

Track Event Postponed.....

**** NEW DATE AGAIN: 01/30/2010 ****

Guys, I'm so sorry to be the bearer of bad news, but believe it or not the event is now postponed to January 30th. There are two main reasons for this:

1) Despite all weather prediction sites and even weather stations confirming that there is 0% chance of rain (until after 10 pm) on Saturday, there will be a lot of fog on Saturday morning. We just got confirmation that the track area will see dense fog on Friday night and Saturday morning, which unfortunately, does not clear up until noon to 1:00 pm, and would of course kill half of our racing day immediately. And no matter how many times they warm up the track with the burners, fog will condense immediately as soon as it lands on top of the hot surface and will create an un-safe slippery condition.

2) Eight people canceled at the last minute. This put a big dent in our rental cost. So, I'm actually reducing the rental size and insurance coverage for amount of cars allowed to race on the track for that day. From now on, there will be no reserving spots and no paying at the track or paying last minute or after the deadline. All payments sent to JSunner's account will be given to track management directly by him along with a list of participants. You must cancel at least 48 hours in advance to give a chance to fill the spot by someone else. Anyone not on the list will not be able to race that day but is welcomed to come as a spectator.

New deadline for payment is end of day Tuesday, January 26th 2010

I'm sorry again for the bad news everyone, but it was truly out of my control. If anybody on the list can not make it on the 30th, please PM me and I will have them refund your money instantly....

Okay..... so two more weeks.... 8 more spots to fill..... more mods to do..... so let the fun begin

**** NEW DATE AGAIN: 01/30/2010 ****

Everyone,

I'm sorry for all the trouble caused by this constant change of plans that has been going on recently with this event. The weather has been too crazy lately and non of the sites have been forcasting anything, they all have been guessing blindly I should have a confirmation from track management by tomorrow night or wednesday morning at the very latest on whether we will proceed as planned or postpone the event to maybe Sunday or the following Saturday or even following Sunday.

I hear ya.
It looks like rain for Saturday.

Even if it doesn't rain, if it is close to raining then that means that there will be lower pressure than normal which translates into bad times.

Okay guys, here is the deal....

I talked to track management this morning and they told me that they do NOT want to make a call just yet. The weather is changing rapidly and predictions are not too accurate right now. And since the event was postponed so many times, they want to give us a chance to try and make it this Saturday. Consequently, we will wait and make a call either on Thursday night or very early Friday morning.

If it does not happen this Saturday, then the only available date left is Saturday, February 6th. After that, the track will not be available on the weekends at least until April 16th; but by then, it is usually way too hot to race .

I know many of you are traveling a long distance for this, and I'm really sorry to keep you hanging, but I just don't want to disapoint you guys again with a rush decision in an unsure weather situation like we've been having lately.

I will update this thread (and all other threads) by tomorrow night accordingly

Guys..... I'm sorry, but there are no more spots left. I can't add any more people (I wish I can but not my call this time). Anybody who was not on the list originally WILL NOT be able to race but is welcomed to join us as a spectator. The track already has a list of participants and have taken out an insurance policy for a specific number of cars, etc....

However, if somebody happens to cancel in the last minute, I can add one more from the waiting list. So as long as the count does not change, we're okay. Please PM me or call me for last minute updates if you still want to join.

On the bright side, the weather at the track has been AWESOME today. If the weather tomorrow is anything like it is today, we'll have a great day. Very Sunny but still very cold at a high of 61 F creates good racing weather and almost optimum conditions
