The MON number is usually about 8 lower than the RON number so the average of both numbers roughly comes up as to about 4 less than the RON number used in Europe and South Africa and Australia. That is why on our pumps in North America we always see the octane rating being (r+m)/2. Cheers. |

I exclusively use Shell V-Power 91. Especially after my dealer blamed my Chevron 94 diet for various N54 problems in my E60. In the end, it was yet another HPFP story, but the stealer indicated that BMW Canada has pointed negatively at Chevron 94 in many different engine-related issues (both N54 and S65). |

Pretty much every servo has 98 octane fuel here. At one point we had a few shell servos selling 100 octane.
i think our choices are between 91,95 and 98 |

Yeah...there's 1 station I've found here in Oklahoma City, a Shell station, that has 93 (91 seems to be the Oklahoma standard)...and they charge $1 more a gallon than 89 on their pumps.

hmmmm. I always thought 76 gas was the best. And Shell was the worst (I just remember "shell hell").
For California, I found this link in the forums a few years ago. Not sure how accurate it is, but I was able to track down a local race fuel (or boosted standard stuff) using it. It takes maybe a quarter tank for your engine to reset and properly use the fuel, but once it synchs up, it's really makes a big difference! Car feels "angry." http://www.davebarton.com/Unleaded_R...ral_and_NorCal
