Noobie dragstrip, need advice.

Have a few questions for those of you with Drag strip time, I got talked into going to the local drag strip here in about a week or so and I have no experence with launching a car on that kind of sticky pavement.
Im running ESS 625 6MT, volk 18inch wheels with 315/30's in the rear 200 treadwear street tires. I do have solid rear diff mounts/engine mounts and a DSS carbon fiber driveshaft.

Questions:
What RPM to launch in?
Burnout, just enouf to clean tires? "assume warming up not a deal since not slicks"
Do you shift to 5th gear before end of quarter mile?
Suspension settings, leave it soft for best launch or put in in sport plus?
Cold tire pressure?
Anything else a noobie should know at a drag strip?

I dont expect to pull any great times since I have never done it but id like to atleast make a decent showing of the M3. "most people here never seen one"

On street tires, I'd go around the water and skip even a quick spin. On drag radials, I go through the water and do a second gear burnout until they catch and launch me forward. I was at the strip Wednesday night with my turbo E36M3. First night out this year. 11.7 at 132.

You say 200 treadwear tires...which tires? Hopefully not RS3's they are like driving in ice with a supercharged M3 from my experience. Tires make a HUGE difference.

I took my car out last week for the first time.. It was damn near impossible to get traction with the traction control off.. And i'd start sliding on the third gear shift.. I'd play with MDM on.. see how that goes.
Also launch low on street tires.. A LOT of throttle modulation will be needed to see any sort of decent time.

With these wheels and tires I should do better than that, on the street with DSC off I only spin in first and top of 2nd if I give it full throttle on launch. 3rd is rock solid, carbon fiber driveshaft seemed to help with wheel spin on launches as well.
PSS I spun like crazy.

Glad to hear that you get good traction in first and second gears. I hear the solid diff mounts work wonders. As do sticky tires.

Sounds like you are in good shape. Let us know how you do.

Will do, drag strip has been rained out and closed almost 2 weeks now. Weather here is the suck this month.

Moscow Unlimited. 1 Mile drags. You crash you die. In Europe they do VMax Hypermax - arm drop 1.3 miles. Unfortunately not in the US yet. Closest we have in 1/2 mile airstrip drags with a full tree at Shift Sector.

1/4 mile lol.

Well one of the main reasons was to see if it would tone down the NHV/whine from having solid rear diff mounts. Another was simply to see what if anything it did, which it did take some of the clunk out of the drive train.
Stock drive shaft has some clunk which you can hear when you lift off the gas at low speeds or when easing out in 1st. "has a fair amount of play in it when even twisted by hand"

Does seem to help with launches a bit, releases the stored power in the shaft over a longer period of time since the carbon fiber twists more. Making back tires a little less prone to break loose right off the line.

If I had it to do again I prob would simply for the less clunky drive train.
